I was told that this was so because that week was carded for registration of new students. My new semester workload is still perplexing but it is not too much that I cannot handle. We are doing our work just as it is to be done and are accomplishing a lot more working as a class, for the most part. I haven’t encountered any problems in class to date, thank God. Things have really been looking up for me in many different ways; I was offered a part time job at the school itself as a student-employee.
F 1.2 Exercise 2 I am looking for a job. I have been an electrical engineer for the past eight years. I arrived in the U.S. a few months ago, so I have not had much experience with American job interviews. I don’t think my English is a problem, because I have studied English since I was a child. But in my country, I found a job right after I graduated from college.
I missed all my family members, especially my parents, brothers, and sisters. I can’t say when exactly I first became aware of that feeling, that I was never going back home again, but surely I must have felt it during those first years in Houston. I had only a few friends and we sat on the edge of whatever culture we now were supposed to be a part of. We sometimes met at the all-Arabic Cafe, which had a similar at most here as Iraq. This cafe sat on a Houston corner, with a culture and history different from the one I had been born into, but which was familiar to me nonetheless.
The grant money he had received didn’t come out to much in U.S. currency. As a result, he was forced to live in a dormitory. But, from the eyes of a child that is growing up In America with Indian parents things are much different. “The supermarket did not carry mustard oil, doctors did not make house calls, neighbors never dropped by without an invitation, and of these things, every so often, my parents complained” (Lahiri 24). In a sense the child, Lilia, is growing up both Indian and American.
Part of my earning was going toward helping my mother. So that let me with a few dollars in my pocket to enjoy with my friends. Being a prep cook was not easy to enjoy. After two years of working at the local supermarket being a part-time prep cook, I had decided it was time to move on. This was my worst job experience I have held so
Immigration I receive a call from my friend three days after we took him to the airport. Concerning him, everything was nice and perfect in this new country. The weather was cool and pleasant and the people friendly. About me, I didn’t want to go anywhere else, but I started to think about this country of the perfect life according to my friend and what I saw through the TV. Looking for better life and better education are making people move around the world from place to place and the best place all over the world is the United State of America.
Graduation had come for the three of us! Christy, Jaime and I wanted to celebrate our accomplishment but knew we didn’t want to do it in Denver. We decided on Las Vegas. Within four days, we booked our flight and hotel and were set to have the time of our lives. Packed and ready to go we crammed our bags into Jaime’s car and were off to DIA.

There is only around twenty-five different meal varieties and so that means while they are deployed they are eat these exact meals two-three times a day. There is no way I could eat MRE’s only, that would get so old. While all these kids and mentors sat around thinking this food was disgusting, the marines were grateful to be served “lunch.” The MRE was not as bad as I expected it to be honestly, but it definitely did not taste like a home cooked meal; it was really all carbs so you were intaking a lot of calories. I selected the beef ravioli and there is a packet in there that if you add water it creates a chemical reaction and causes the water to boil essentially heating up your food. Personally I think we should allow the MRE’s to be personalized, they deserve
I was born in the beautiful country of ... Few years into the civil war our family decided to immigrate. It wasn’t an easy process – it took almost two years for our family to reunite on American soil, but not too long after that our dad had to leave. My brother and I grew up under the care of our mother only. Immigrating to a new country was not easy - we had to learn a new language, adopt a new culture and make new friends. Despite the difficulties, we all tried to make the best of it.
