Lamar stated in an interview,"This song is about me reminiscing about my years a kid witnessing a housing that indulged adults in alcohol. So much alcohol that it could fill a swimming pool". Throughout the song, Lamar plays on the words "swimming pool" for instance in the next line he says, "Backstroke everyday in Chicago". This tells the listener that while growing up in Chicago, he felt like he was drowning in liquor because he could not escape it. As Lamar goes on, he begins to express how he began drinking himself when he was a teenager and the reasons for why he started.
After reading the title of the article and seeing the date of the publication, I felt that this article would consist of up-to-date opinions about how binge drinking is becoming more popular in colleges across America. The author states how students will fall into the campus life and participate in campus rituals. Students will want to experience or celebrate their freedom with their fellow students by binge drinking. For those students who are not allowed to drink freely in a public facility such as a bar or club will simply turn to drinking in their dorms or other non public places. This problem can lead to hospitalization or even death.
I also made life-long friendships, and I am still meeting new people at our meetings that we have during the school year. The summer before my junior year of high school I attended my 10-day residential Junior Conference at Christian Brothers University. Entering the program I had mixed feelings because I was so excited to meet new people, but at the same time I was extremely nervous because I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
The sun hasn’t yet melted away the fog you made with all your sighs. The groans you used to make are still ringing in my old ears. There’s still a stain on your cheek from an old tear that hasn’t been washed off yet. If you were ever yourself, and this sadness was yours, you and your sadness were all for Rosaline. And now you’ve changed?
The next morning which was Saturday, I had awakened with the worst hangover and was reeking with the smell of wine and vomit. That afternoon our family was going to a wedding reception where there was more wine and champagne. I recall seeing a fountain full of bubbling champagne sitting on a table, as I passed by it the smell made get nauseated all over again and waiting to just puke. I learned my lesson from that day until this day to never over drink again. This learning experience was a very valuable one.
In the ad they are all hot and sweaty and uncomfortable until the beer train comes along. Soon as they have beer in their hands it shows them as instantly relieved and cooled off. The audience is meant to see this as beer being a logical choice to quench your thirst and to use at social gatherings. Overall in this advertisement it relies more heavily on the pathos side, in the way that it tries to produce the feeling of community and belonging. They want to make the audience think that a good time and fun is associated with buying their product.
I was freshman and went to few classes and some students said its almost finish school and want to do something for fun like YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE “Yolo” my close friend and i saw them conversation and made a plan to pulling the fire alarm so they did. We laughed because we know who DID it and it felt good that we have a short classes. We went to stand outside for like 20 minute and the firemen came and check school if everything is okay it took them forever and we went back to class every next class other student pulling fire alarm like 4-5 times. I asked my best friend if she experience those things? She told me she DID it when she was freshman.
But it's disintegrating, from all the medicine. Our minds are troubled by the emptiness. And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones. 'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs. Setting fire to our insides for fun We are the reckless, We are the wild youth Chasing visions of our futures And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones.
A long, long time ago Columbus High School held their homecoming dance on Halloween night. My name is Victoria and it was my first homecoming. After arriving at the school I went to the courtyard. I was in a congregation, group of people in a crowd with all the students of Columbus High School. I was with my friends having a great time, when the lights went out.
