Human service agencies rely on effective and clear results to receive notification and future funding options. The Greenby Community Mental Health Center board members perceive the cutbacks on the Consultation and Education department of the center as realistic and inevitable. This paper will reveal a process evaluation measure and an outcome evaluation measure that can assist the director of the Consultation and Education department at the health center provide adequate evidence toward the importance of this retaining this program. This paper will include the scope and purpose of each process, how each process influences the design, and the impact efficiency of the program. In addition, this paper will share the issues and challenges that
If you simply want to take a look into the behaviors of individuals then you will want to use qualitative research methodology. However, if you want to look at the statistics or percentage aspects of a situation then it is important that you use the quantitative research methodology. Mixed method research is actually where the use of quantitative and qualitative research method is both being used together to conduct a research and using both forms of data to come to a conclusion. It is appropriate to use both if a researcher wants to look at an issue in a 360 degree manor meaning they would like to see how many people the issue is actually affecting, as well as why it is affecting them. Scientifically sound research actually supports the function of a human service manager because the results or findings of this research is often backed up and proved successful by science laws, as well as being backed up by facts.
The purpose of this article is to illustrate guidelines that could be helpful for practitioners when facing dilemmas and issues while developing a group therapy program. The article was published by an accredited journal and done by professionals with adequate backgrounds from credible universities. This article is very similar to the article I was assigned to because they both discuss challenges and dilemmas in group therapy and how to deal with such difficult situations. They both have similar experiences and similar settings discussing guidelines and ethics on dealing with disruptive behaviors. This article will assist me in developing alternative solutions that would be able to broaden my thinking on how to deal in such challenging circumstances such as the article I was assigned to for my presentation.
What Is Scientific Research Having read a number of research studies scientific research seems to consist mainly of inquiries, observations and experiments. It attempts to use these to answer questions about how cam therapies can benefit people. It does not provide absolute answers to questions, but instead gives probable answers based on evidence and information gathered. The Reason for Carring out Research There are a number of important reasons to carry out research into cam Therapies * Check safety for use * How they work and if there claims are valid * A comparison to other recognized treatments * How they interact with conventional medicines * To help gain credibility with in the professional community * Overview of their effects on clients * To find out if treatments are cost effective Research methodologies and sourses of information used The methods Used create conditions under which it is more likely that conclusions are drawn based on evidence rather than speculation or common knowledge. There are many different Methodologies used the most common two are Qualitative Research * To gain an understanding of underlying reasons and motivations * Generating ideas for later quantitative research * To uncover trends in thought and opinion This is done through in depth Interviews, focus groups and case studies (Appendix T1) It’s finding out not just what people think and feel but why they think and feel it.
Research Process and Terminology paper 08/13/2012 CJS/334 There are many research methods a professional may use in the criminal justice system when approaching an issue that needs a resolution whether it is to solve a problem or prove a point using research and evidence to get the correct results. The methods vary from using data that is precise and to the exact point or using something that is more elaborate and done on a larger scale multiple times to have a consistent result. Although there are different methods to finding an answer they all have the same basic model of problem solving in which we will be discussing. Basic Research Process Any basic research process starts off with a theory an attempt to try to explain the issue at hand, deductions leads to a hypothesis. A deduction is evidence found through simple research to narrow down a more informative form of a theory; you can say it is an official theory or scientific guess called a hypothesis, with more evidence of the issues a hypothesis is formed from a theory using deduction.
Picking your topic For this project, you may choose to do an experiment, a correlation study, or case study experiment answering any question related to psychology. You must collect your data using either a survey or naturalistic observation and your method must meet the ethical criteria set by the IRB (me). What you will turn in You will turn in a scientific paper describing your study. The paper should include the following: Title (Person 1)– Scientific titles are descriptive and may be long. It doesn’t need to be clever or catchy (but it can be).
4. Report the conclusions- The researcher develops explanations for the findings. These explanations involve the extent to which the findings confirm the theories and hypotheses the study was addressing. 5.3 Publish results- publishes results of the study so that it can be replicated. 5.4 Further replication- repeating the essence of a research study, usually with different participants in different situations, to see whether the basic finding extends to other participants and circumstances.
Furthermore, hypotheses must be testable by means of using if statements to make a point. The if statement in fact has a very good effect on manipulating one variable has on another. Hypotheses should also have a prediction, be testable, and have a certain falseness to it in order for it to be accepted. With that being said as well, it must also take into account current knowledge about the topic and the different techniques used to derive at a solution to the problem. Hypotheses actually use statistical and analytical data to ensure that it is verifiable, and this allows for the falsification or verification, in which I mentioned earlier.
Validity – validity depends on what the claims are made about a piece of research and how well the claims are supported by the evidence or result from the research. Various factors, listed below may affect the validity of research. * The methods used to conduct the research should be appropriate for the purpose of the research. * The presentation of the findings * The conclusion should be an automatic outcome from a discussion of the
Notice how Gawande uses facts and personal experience (in most texts) to support claims, as well as other types of evidence. Once you have completed these preliminary readings and believe you have a good grasp of the writing, you can turn to considering the rhetorical situation. Here are some questions to guide you: * What is the context? Look up any background information that you need to be aware of, such as what the publication is, who the readers of the publication are likely to be, etc. What can you ascertain about this type of genre from reading this example?
