The code of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) represents general codes of ethics of engineering. The NSPE membership is open to all professional engineers regardless of their particular engineering discipline which means it applies to all professional engineers. Also NPCE code is very complete compare to IEEE and ACM. IEEE is membership is open for electrical and electronics engineers. IEEE is world’s largest association. The IEEE members recognize “the importance of our technologies in affecting the quality of life throughout the world.” To make a change in the IEEE codes of ethics, the institute requires the following: the proposed changes have been published in The Institute at least 3 months in advance of final consideration by the Board of Directors, all IEEE major boards discuss proposed changes prior to final action by the board of directions, and an affirmative vote of two-thirds of the votes of the members of the board of Directors present at the time of vote, provided a quorum is present, shall be required for changes to be made. NSPE and IEEE are mostly similar and have the same priorities. In NSPE and IEEE, the public safety, health, and the welfare of the public take the priority. But in ACM codes of ethics, public interest takes priority over the interests of employers. The outcome should be “the public good.” Because of software engineers’ role, they make an direct impact on good or bad by participating or by teaching. They must commit to make a respected and beneficial profession. The code explains eight principles related to the behavior of and decisions made by professional software engineers. The principles state that software engineers shall act in a manner that is in the best interests of their client and employer and at the same time maintain public interest. Software engineering is a very dynamic field.
