PT: The boys all start to really want to go home, and then three boys went up to the mountain, and then they saw the beast, and ran back to camp. Chapter 8 1. Jack calls an assembly and says that Ralph is a coward like Piggy, Ralph doesn’t think the hunters are any good, and Jack declares that Ralph is not a proper chief (111-113). 2. Before Jack leaves the assembly, he is rejected and states that he is going out to his own tribe, and anyone who wants to join him may do so (113).
Tom wants answers, so he sneaks out of the camp, and finds Jim Casy. Casy would converse to Tom about the prison life, and he would also talk about how he wants to revolt against the farm owners so that the prices were fairer. Once this conversation is done, there is a large rustling behind Jim Casy’s tent, so the two leave the area in a hurry. But sadly, a man would hit Jim Casy in the head with a pick axe, striking him dead. Tom would use the same pick axe to kill the man who killed Casy.
This time, and for the first time ever in Dillard’s life, the driver stops and jumps out of the car, running after them. Dillard describes the scene in great detail; “the snowy Reynolds sidewalk, up our own sliding woodpile, mazy backyards the steep hilltop at Willard and Lang, the driver’s city clothes of a suite and tie, street shoes, the picket fences, thorny hedges, backyard after backyard, choking for breath, discovering always, exhilarated, dismayed, that only bare speed could save us, cherishing my excitement, and
This makes Ishmael feel guilty for only a few minutes, because in his position, there isn’t much time for remorse. Finally, they feel driven to return to Mattru Jong once again to try to appease their hunger. As they are walking through the middle of the grassland in single file, three rebels suddenly rise from behind the dried grasses and pointed guns at Gibrilla who is in the lead. They cock their rifles and begin to harass the boys by holding the rifles or their bayonets to their heads or throats. Then they begin walking them back to a village they had just passed.
The colonist came smart and built a fort as quick as possible to rescue them from the Indians. Their fort spread about an acre apart, with the walls as tall as two people. Aside from the attack of Indians, also came the attack of nature and wildlife diseases. Many died of starvation, and salt water poisoning. Many turned into desperation, while having no choice but to eat their own horses, cats, and dogs.
I climbed down quickly out of the tree to check for the buck. It was starting to get dark and I had forgotten to bring my flashlight. I followed the trail into the woods looking for blood spots. The light was almost gone and I had to find that deer. I wished my Dad and Brandon would come back to help me, but they were hunting in a different spot.
Once both have been fully recovered, they set off to find civilization. On this journey, Buck saves Thorton numerous times. Despite the strong love Buck has for Thorton, he still hears the call of the wild, and can’t help but feel like he’s being dragged away from civilization and into the wilderness once again. With the winnings from a bet Buck helped him win, Thorton decided to take a trip and find a lost gold mine. He works long and hard hours while Buck wanders off by himself in the wilderness.
The game went on and it was a bunch of defense. Now at half time the jack took a moment to focus, he cleared his mind and ran to the field with full force. He stole the ball from the captain of the Wildcats. You could tell he was furious, and getting tired. The score was 2-1, playing in the last few minutes of the game, he wanted to make one more goal, faking out the defense moving the ball down field, he does a trick shot and he scores!
Our cannons continued to rip through chunks of the enemy’s line as they soon came into rifle range. I loaded my rifle lined up my sights and fired, as I saw no one fall. “It’s no use,” another man shouted, “there army has to be stretched at least a mile long.” I quickly reloaded again and this time gazed down the barrel and fired. Direct hit; this time the rebels began to drop rapidly as they quickened there pace. BANG!
Yeah you guessed it I shot the little one first, I mean you may call me cruel but I was twelve and it was my first deer that I could actually get a shot on. Well being the good shot I am I dropped that doe in it’s tracks and started getting really excited because I had just shot my first deer. Then we looked at the deer again and realized that the other doe had walked up to the one I shot and was standing over it. What else could I do, I mean I was excited and so was my dad so I shot at that deer which turned out to be a huge mistake. Because I was all shook up and excited about shooting the first deer I made a bad shot also known as a gut shot on the second deer and it took off running.
