Immigration It's no doubt that immigration is a widely spread controversial issue. It has been something Americans have gone back and forth with for decades. We can never seem to make up our mind about the whole thing. Some people welcome the idea of immigrants striving for a better life here in the U.S while others despise everything about it. There are so many issues involving immigration that it's hard to formulate a solid opinion on it. It's hard to be either completely supportive or totally against it. As you live life there are going to be articles you read and conversations you have that will shape they way you feel towards the whole situation. All you can do is take the information you have and form your own personal viewpoint. In foreign countries it’s also extremely difficult to get an education. In some countries it’s even more difficult and most times impossible for women to further or even get any education. Parents risk their lives for a better future. In the article “My Life in the Shadows” by Reyna Wences she tells the story of how she and her family illegally crossed the border to meet up with her father in Chicago. The whole goal was to cross the border undetected to give her children the opportunity to be apart of the DREAM act when of the right age. The DREAM act allows illegal immigrants to attend college. LIke all government bills they aren’t perfect. In this quote Wences explains that even though the DREAM act isn’t a for sure thing it still gives her hope. “The DREAM act, which was introduced in Congress in 2009, maybe my best hope, although it’s prospects are uncertain.
