This disability may alienate the person from the rest of the group but it doesn’t mean that they are stupid. The way she responded to these reactions was a real eye opener. She would deliver her thoughts about these reactions in a way I could only understand if I were dealing with a disability myself. The reactions to her disability made me realize how inconsiderate and oblivious most people can be, which includes myself. After reading this piece I realized that even though a disabled person has the technology to ‘help’ with their disability, we shouldn’t disregard the fact that the person still needs our understanding and consideration to help with the disability, whether it be deafness, blindness etc.
Somehow caught in a never ending battle of how to survive. For April Raintree, her battle was both hiding and finding her identity- spiritually, emotionally and physically. Even though April Raintree had so many defining moments in her life, the three main factors that shaped her identity was living with the DeRosier’s, the rape, and the death of her sister. When April Raintree was living with the DeRosier’s, they changed her identity drastically. By living with the DeRosier’s April was taught to hate her people, her family, but she also learned to stay strong.
For example, “The welfare of all children has always been of utmost importance to me: the abused, the handicapped, the underprivileged, the ill. I can identify them because I know what it is like not to be able to communicate one’s pain and hope” (Klein 250). To Gerda, helping one certain group of people is not enough. She extends her reach to everyone, and this shows her belief. Gerda’s belief in faith in humanity is that people need to lead richer lives by helping those who have nothing.
Child of The Dark Paper Carolina has made some bad decisions in her life, but so has everyone else. To me she represents the everyday woman struggling to keep her family alive and well. All she wants is the best for her children and herself. Carolina is a strong woman and she is very independent. As Audalio Dantas, I will publish the Diary of Carolina Maria de Jesus because I want to show the people how Carolina’s pride in her own independence is the vital importance that determines both her identity and the way she reacts with other favelados.
Miss Moore represents the older generation trying to guide the younger one towards a better life, using her previous experience and knowledge to teach the kids about the world they are in, and Sylvia which is pretty much the essence of the youthful rebellion. As the leader of the group she often tries to discredit Miss Moore, to prove that even though she is older doesn’t make her right. We can see such behavior in the narration, as Sylvia describes Miss Moore “The only woman on the block
On the other hand, Dottie’s sister Kit represented the “fear of failure” athlete. Kit’s character would break down under severe pressure, her ability to cope with emotions and moods rationally were uncontrollable. She always looked at the negative aspects instead of the positive ones by evaluating her
I think out all the characters she made the smarter choices and she thought about the consequences. Even though she almost died by sacrificing herself for her sister she still did it for the right reasons she loved her
It is very apparent that Cassandra has unconditional love for her daughters and wants the best for them no matter what. While many people in the world today think that technology is ruining our society and our social skills, it still has a lot of pros that outweigh the cons for many people. Cassandra is prime example of someone who effectively uses technology to aid her daily activities in a very positive way. It is also her outlet to keep connected spiritually which is hugely important to her. Technology makes it possible to keep her connected to not only the outside world, but also to those who are most important to
Allie Dille Mrs. Kangas English 10x Hour 4 October 25, 2010 Clare Boothe Luce, an American playwright, journalist, ambassador, and U.S. Congresswoman once stated, “Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed”. Women have forever been seen as the “weakest link” of society and are rarely given the voice they deserve. Sometimes, women feel as though they must go to extremes to be heard in society due to their lack of power. The women of Salem in The Crucible by Arthur Miller feel as though they must go to great lengths in order to have an influence in their community. The lack of power that women have in Salem sets the stage for hysteria.
It is no doubt that Abby does what she does because she cares about only her own safety. Most importantly, her contribution to the story really keeps the story going, even though they can anger the reader! When it is all said and done, Abigail Williams can be seen as an evil woman responsible for many hangings and jail time of very innocent people for falsely accusing them. Will she ever have the heart to
