Nothing too fancy because they can’t afford it and it is mostly used and bought for its structure and function rather than style and fashion. Their shoes will mostly be comfortable tennis shoes also bought for function so nothing expensive looking. Everyone’s hair will be up and messy and a bit sweaty since it is hot and they have been working. One of the ladies with long enough hair will have it clipped up and another with either a small bun or half a ponytail. None of them will have any makeup on except for the youngest, Ana, who will only have eyeliner and mascara on.
Smitty chooses his own cloths that are fairly fashionable and does everything on his own. He moves normally almost gracefully just like anyone else, but he isn’t a normal person. When you watch Smitty it’s like taking a little trip into the twilight zone. All the kids call him “The Alien” at school because he doesn’t talk or expresses any emotions. When you look at Smitty he always has an empty face and never looks straight into anyone’s eyes.
“With the straps pushed off, there was nothing between the top of the suit and the top of her head except just her... I mean, it was more than pretty.” The description of her bare shoulders shows the sexuality Queenie expresses. Queenie, without being overt, is still expressing her sexuality which is conveyed innocently. He is also drawn in by her unattainability. Coming to the end of the story, Sammy had become completely infatuated with Queenie.

What assumptions does the narrator have about her daughters? Do you agree? Why? The mother has the assumption that Maggie is a very docile, painfully shy, and isolated from most of the town because she stays very close to home with her mother. Dee (Wangero) is the exact opposite to Maggie, she is lighter in complexion, looks down on the place where she was raised, spoiled, and well educated.
She enjoys dancing for extended periods of time which attributes to her being able to stay in shape. She is legally blind which probably accounts for why she uses the walker. With the use of a desktop magnifier she is able to read and write letters and read her newspapers and magazines. She also is hearing impaired and wears a hearing aid which is common at her age. However neither of these factors has kept her from living life to the fullest and being in control of her life.
Unlike most movies, this movie is shot in remarkable 65mm format which is considered epic photography, and is only used in special event venues. The cinematographer, Alex Thomson, does a great job in making the scene of the ghost of Hamlet horror-like, as he uses the technique, dollying, to bring out the full effect of the scene. However, some scenes and set dressings like the earth cracking open look cheesy and take away from the credibility of the scenes. Along with decent cinematography, this film includes phenomenal acting. The incredible cast includes Nicholas Farrell as Horatio, Julie Christie as Gertrude, Derek Jacobi as Claudius, Michael Maloney as Laertes, and Kate Winslet as Ophelia, who does a tremendous job playing the part of a crazy and insane women.

Maggie was so shy and tried not to be seen or heard by anyone. Her scars and the little extra weight is what made her look so different from her sister. Dee was the pretty and thin one that had no worries about who and how people looked at her. She was always dressed as if she was ready for anything! “At sixteen she had a style of her own, and knew what style was.”{pg.257}.
The true, natural beauty of a Black woman is rarely celebrated. Only when a woman that is of African descent shows a majority of European features, then is this woman’s beauty ever celebrated. The kinky hair or the dark skin tone is not what is praised. Instead she is glorified for the straightness of her tresses, and the lightness of her skin. She is perfect because she can blend in with White beauty.
