REL 3000 24 April 2007 The Sermon on the Mount teaches us through Jesus Christ what God wants us to do. Jesus taught through God’s word and through example. His miracles touched many lives of nonbelievers, and his word was echoed throughout the land. Through his gospel, we are able to love, worship, and practice a life full of certainty. He taught us to be kind and not to judge, to treat our neighbors respectfully.
He sticks to the Bible and does not care what others think about him or his beliefs. Billy Graham is a fabulous role model and I have a desire to have a faith as strong as his. He has proved throughout the years that he stays true to his faith and he has taught thousands of people the word of God. He believes the Bible to be 100% accurate. We both believe the Bible comes from God and that he created the universe and everything in it.
And this true relationship is one of the main advantages of being human – that we are “a little lower than God and crowned with glory and honor.” (Psalm 8:5) This is proven in John 14 because as Jesus, whose relationship with the Spirit is incomparable, talks of the Spirit, he uses the pronouns he and him – not it. The reason for us to develop our relationship with the Spirit is that he may be with us even more so than God or Jesus. I say this because we know that Jesus ascended into heaven to be with the Father, but the Spirit has been sent to us on earth by Jesus to be our comforter and our guide (John 14:16). He has three main jobs with the church: to teach us the truth, build the church, and help us spread God's love. The Spirit's job in regard to truth is to teach us unknown things about God, for just as no one knows are deep secrets of a person but that person's spirit, so can no one know God's secrets except his Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:11).

Jesus taught us a new definition for greatness, the word servant. “Anyone can be great, because anyone can serve.” He gave of Himself. Jesus showed us all by example how to be great; by giving our lives in service to God. His service to humankind was motivated by Love. Mark Twain said, “Kindness (Love) is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” That is the language that Jesus spoke.
Every follower of Jesus Christ must find his or her identity in him and him alone. Students do not see that at first, this comes through spiritual maturity. “A young person’s identity does not depend on pure phycology, human goals and achievements, or social labels. Each young person’s identity, and ours as well , comes because we are held in high esteem by a sovereign God who has informed us of sin and forgiveness” (pg. 194).
