Memories at My Family House in Yazd For people around the world, growing up a specific environment has usually had a great impact on their childhood and ultimately their lives. Children everywhere experience some of their most amazing memories of childhood in a place called ‘Home’. For me, a Persian adult now living in the United States, wonderful memories were formed while living in my family house located in the city of Yazd. My family moved to this house when I was only twelve, and I lived there for almost eleven years before I got married. Even though my husband and I started our family in another Iranian city, Tehran, I still have the best vacations and most significant times while visiting my parents in Yazd. Over the years this special house has found its place in my heart due to its spaciousness, fascinating architecture and pleasant neighborhood. One of the most likeable factors found in a house is its largeness. My family house is about 20,000 square feet in area, divided into an older house and a new building with a beautiful garden in between. The old mansion, which was only used by my great grandparents, is about 150 years old; and ,the new building was built by my father about thirty years ago and has been used by his family ever since. This newer building has four comfortable bedrooms off the dining and living rooms. A narrow hallway separates the bathroom and Laundry from the other parts of the house. The living room is large enough to hold six brown armchairs, a wooden coffee table in the middle, and a 46” television located on a walnut TV stand in the corner. A very beautiful Walnut table encircled by twelve chairs sits in the middle of the dining room.
