You have often heard the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words.” If you look at the pictures during the Great Depression by Walker Evans you envision yourself in that time. Walker Evans was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1903. He grew up in Chicago and New York City. He attended the Loomis Institute and Mercerburg Academy and then graduated from Phillips Academy in Massachusetts in 1922. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walker_Evans) He spent a year in Paris and studied French literature then dropped out and returned to the US to NYC.
Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) Norman Rockwell was best known for his paintings that depicted stories of America and its cultural values through a series of people and small town life in the early to mid 20th century. At the age of 14, Rockwell dropped out of high school to go study art at Arts Students League. By the age of 19, Rockwell attained the chief illustrator for Boys Life magazine position and would hold that position for the next fifty years. Rockwell also worked for The Saturday Evening Post and about 150 other companies producing over 4000 works of art. Rockwell did travel to Paris in 1923 to study modern art but it was his root original style that everyone appreciated the most.
David Sedaris was born in Binghamton, New York, on December 26th, 1956, and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. In his childhood, he went to a speech therapist for his lisp problem. He attended Kent State University, but dropped out, and ended up graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked many odd jobs in Raleigh, Chicago and New York City. Since the 1908s, he has been living in France with his partner, Hugh Hamrick.

He is the son of Baltasar Llort and Victoria Choussy. He studied architecture at the University of El Salvador. When he was in Europe he figured out that he wanted to be an artist and went to Louisiana to study art.
Napoleon Bonaparte was the Emperor of France and before that a great General. Napoleon was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, France on August sixteenth seventeen sixty nine. His first educational enrollment was in the French college d'Autun. Though, he did not like the life he had there, he enrolled in the military college of Brienne. Napoleon studied there for five years before moving on to the military academy in Paris.

These seven men created numerous landscape paintings working together from nineteen twenty to nineteen thirty-one. Some famous paintings included Snow clouds, Billboard, Canal du Loing near Episy and Fine Weather, Georgian Bay. In nineteen thirty-one, The Group of Seven, which in its last exhibition welcomed the contributions of twenty-eight other artists. The Group of Seven decided to disband and form a new group that better represented artists from across the country. The Canadian Group of Painters held their first Show in nineteen thirty-three, exhibiting the work of fifty-two artists, including work from The Group of Seven.
The modern composer I decided to research after examining various options is Louis Armstrong. Louis Armstrong was born August 4, 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parents of Mayann Albert and Willie Armstrong. Louis moved from house to house among his mother to his grandmother Josephine Armstrong right after his birth due to Louis’s father leaving him. Once Louis’s mother conceived Louis’s Sister Beatrice four years later when Louis was 6 years old, he moved back in with his mother. Due to Armstrong’s family’s funds being very limited he did whatever he could to bring money home such as selling newspapers, vegetables, and joining a street singing group where he earned the name satchelmouth because of his wide grin.
