Hiringthe foreign workers may interfere with the policies of China¶s political and legal environment.Prior to Riordan¶s plans to expand the facility in Hangzhou and hire additional foreignworkers, the management should consider the political and legal climates of China to eliminateinterference with the goals of the company. China is a communist state but embraces a freemarket economy (Hodgetts, Luthans, & Doh, 2005). Presently the political environment is stablein comparison to Latin America or the Middle East (Hodgetts, Luthans, & Doh, 2005). However,Riordan needs to investigate thoroughly the legal and regulatory aspects of expanding the facilityand hiring foreign workers in China. The legal and regulatory environment in China needs investigating. Second, financially stressed companies that go dark are the very companies’ shareholders need to monitor usually and where transparency is most important. Clearly, SOX has both positive and negative effects. However, the implementation problems of the Act do not provide sufficient reason to weaken or eliminate SOX requirements or to adopt significant exemptions based on company size. 2. What advantages would China offer foreign companies to list on its exchanges?
Global Supply Chain Management and Strategic Sourcing Case Study Questions Question 1: Based on the risk factors associated with the Bugabyte and the Bugabyte Lite, which product do you think Grunwald and Vogel will recommend as the best candidate for assembly outsourcing? This case study is embedded on procurement management and global sourcing. This is supported by the move of Metrovox outsource various functions from suppliers in China where it purchases the components of both Bugabyte Lite and Bugabyte for its assembly plant in Germany. In an effort to maintain its market position and competitive advantage, Metrovox was compelled to improve its previous product-Bugabyte by developing video capability. The new development had great impact on production such that it was delayed thus delaying delivery of the product by 30 percent.
While China have been doing this the countries In the Middle East with the oil have been trying to shift away from having a customer base from over dependence on the Western market and so they have been looking at rapidly growing markets like China. Another example of how a good relationship leafs to a good supply of energy is the case of the US and Saudi Arabia. They had a symbiotic relationship, meaning that they depended on each other, but in the aftermath of 9/11 their relationship has become increasingly strained. This is because 15 out of the 19 hijackers were of Saudi nationality. However, they need to have a good relationship so they can both survive as Saudi Arabia need the money from exporting and the US need the energy.
INTRODUCTION Global corporate citizenship is progressively more important in today’s world as companies have a better understanding how it affects their business, brand and ultimately bottom line. A few years ago, a few different developments, mostly in China, have exposed the severe conditions that third-world workers have been withstanding. Apple’s demonstration of good global corporate citizenship over the years has shown an exemplary path for others to follow. Do you think that Apple has demonstrated global corporate citizenship, as defined in this chapter? Why or why not?
Glaser refers to the concept of the security dilemma – “a situation in which one state’s efforts to increase its own security reduce the security of others” (2011, 82). He makes the point that China’s conventional military strength being less than that of the United States, combined with the geographical barrier of the Pacific Ocean means that an attack on America is so unlikely it effectively poses no threat, and despite possessing the smaller force, the same obstacle of the Pacific Ocean mean China can feel confident enough in its own defence

Ethics Case Study Judy Blackman ETH/557 April 7, 2014 Sharron Waugh Ethics Case Study In 2010, Lillian Fok, Sandra Hartman, and Kern Kwong did a case study about differences and similarities in business ethical values examining ethical values underlying business decisions in three countries (the United States, China, and Jamaica). As China changes from a socialist based, command economy to a free market economy the Chinese need to change their mindset plus possibly their ethical values to adapt to the change. Jamaica is different from China because it is already a free market or capitalist country, but has struggled to build its economy partially because it was a colony of Great Britain (Fok, Hartman, & Kwong, 2010). In this paper how ethics plays a role in decision making for financial, environmental, and culture issues will be discussed. Next, how positive and normative economics reflect in the case study, and how market efficiency, economizing and the market system effect the ethical values of the United States, China, and Jamaica will be discussed.
