Loving v. Virginia 1976

In 1958, two residents of Virginia, Mildred Jeter, a black woman, and Richard Loving, a white man, were married in the District of Columbia. The Loving’s returned to Virginia, short after their marriage the Loving’s returned to their home in Caroline County. On October 1958, the couple was charged with violating Virginias ban on interracial marriage (“Loving v. Virginia. The Ovez”). In the 1967 the case of Loving v Virginia, the U.S Supreme Court struck down laws banning interracial marriages in the United States. Virginia’s law has been passed in 1691 and, after being amended several times it reaches the Racial Integrity Act on March 20, 1924.
