Response I really enjoyed reading this article about how the author really has a passion and understanding for reading. This is probably the most in depth piece of writing I have read about the philosophy of reading. Ricky Moody uses very educated language and supports his claims with quotes from well-known people, one being Nietzsche. He ends his essay with a strong quote that uses personification, “I believe in the freedom to see literature, history, truth unfolding ahead of me like a book whose spine has just now been cracked.” With this quote said, it is very apparent that the author has a passion for reading.
The more they practice and the more teachers and parents instill this in their minds, the better they will become. Perfect practice, makes perfect. Most people would probably have trouble with trying to remember how they learned to read. I would have to say that I am a person who loves to read and I think that is it really an amazing thing. Also, I am someone who is involved in education and research and I think that it is amazing how learning to read is said to be a talent that it potentially impossible.

Ever since I can remember I have loved books and reading, I have always spent my summers and any other free time I have curled up with a good book. Books have a way of taking you away from reality and pulling you into the lives of the characters sometimes (usually) making our world and lives seem incredibly drab in comparison. I have gone through many phases with books, gradually having a harder and harder time finding a new read from the public library. By the time I was 11, I had made it through all of “The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes” novels, all the “Dear Diary” historical fiction novels, the entire “Series of Unfortunate Events” series, every single novel ever written by “Beverly Cleary” (my most favourite author at the time) and every one of “The Little House on the Prairie” novels, I had absolutely no idea what to read next or
So i can say that in this class, ideology impacted me to an extent, but in certain areas, its still undefined for me. Though my education and how i can ideologically apply it to literature is still undefined, I can easily say that i really enjoyed this class. I know for a fact that my Grandma is also what makes reading so easy for me. Almost as if it’s a second nature! Whenever I become stuck or draw a blank when writing an essay I like to give my grandma a call and she always does know the right thing to say or other terms write. I also then thank her for giving up that time when I was younger for teaching me how to read and how to write. If it wasn’t for that time spent as a young kid living with my Grandparents, reading and writing, I honestly don’t know where I would be as far as writing, reading, or even as far as attending Purdue Calumet University.
Literacy Narrative All writers write for different reasons; whether it be expressing his or her opinion on a particular subject, or recording factual data from an experiment that had previously been conducted. Not everyone likes writing, just as not everyone likes mathematics or history. Personally, I LOVE writing. Writing, for me, whether it be in a diary, on a pad of paper, or even on a computer, has always been my favorite way of expressing my feelings. When writing, I have the freedom to express my opinion on a certain subject without having to worry about being judged if it is a controversial topic, or being ridiculed if my opinions seem to offend other people.
My personal learning style is Tactile and Kinesthetic. What that means is that I am a hands on kind of learner. I learn way better by moving around and touching stuff as opposed to reading, listening, and watching. This has been true about me my entire life as I have always learned more better by touching and working through items. Sometimes I try to switch it up to reading and watching, but I always seem to fail at that.
