Life in Minnesota to life in Liberia Life in Minnesota brings many opportunities and advantages but it is very stressful; although life in Liberia is difficult and has fewer opportunities, it is less stressful. a. Transportation: In Minnesota, public transportation is the least preferred way of transportation. The advantage in Minnesota is that almost every teen and adult owns a car. Public transportation in Minnesota is also very expensive and there is a process that one needs to go through to access it. For example, you have to call to schedule a taxi or you have to follow a schedule for the buses which at times can be very stressful and sometimes a lengthily process. In Liberia, public transportation is very cheap and easy to access and it is the most common way of transportation because cars are very expensive and not affordable. In Liberia one does not need to call to arrange a taxi pick up, or follow a specific bus schedule. You just walk up in the street and stop a taxi for a ride which is very convenient. This is also the same in some cities at certain times in Minnesota. Another similarity with between Minnesota and Liberia is that majority of the taxies color are yellow. b. Education: In Minnesota, there are a lot of opportunities when it comes to education compare to Liberia. Education in Minnesota from Kindergarten to 12th grade is paid for by the government. Whereas education in Liberia is paid for by ones family. If it is not paid for, your child is send home till his or her tuition is paid or an acceptable arrangement is agreed upon. One education similarity between Minnesota and Liberia is that they both have the same amount of grade levels. Kindergarten through 12th grade must be completed before full time admission to college. There are also a lot of financial assistance for college such as financial aids, grants and scholarship here
