Explain why or why not. I think there are many reasons a person will laugh at a joke that will put down other people. One such reason is immaturity. Having worked with teenagers I think that this is their favorite way to joke around. I think it makes them feel better about themselves.
Act 2 to me almost felt like it was a live comedy from beginning to end. It went very smoothly in my opinion as I felt that it was written much better than Act 1. Act 2 also held my interest extremely well because now you (the audience) were able to put it together with Act 1, and it made a pretty strong impact on how fast the world moves today. It also showed the significant problems with Internet dating. What a mess that must be, thank God that, that route never entered my mind.
Swift’s repetitive creation of his extreme mental images, which appeal to one’s senses, gives the reader a false opinion about him, but subsequently becomes beneficial to his overall essay. The use of imagery in “A Modest Proposal” definitely is exceptionally vivid, and as a result, stirs up an emotional response in the reader (pathos). Swift’s intention to using imagery in his essay is to not only get dramatic reactions from his readers, but to also persuade them so much that they are agreeing with his point of view. In his essay, he offers many different descriptive images in which portray the dehumanization of children and women using words such as “breeders,” “flesh,” “carcass,” and “meat”(1026-1027). One of the disturbing images that Swift creates for his audience dehumanizes children by referring to them as pigs which would be roasted then worn as fancy gloves for females, and as boots for men.
This advertisement shows the value of being successful in life. This is shown by Lambert telling the audience that he was not able to be successful until his acne was gone because he was then able to be confident in himself. Overall this commercial of Adam Lambert endorsing Proactive is successful in persuading the audience to buy Proactive. From this, the morally sound character, Stan, tells the audience that stereotyping people is wrong, but it is also good to be cautious of certain things. This doesn’t just appeal to one argument; it takes both viewpoints and acknowledges each one as if both are equally important. This kind of show plays a big impact on our lives because it teaches us how to be a better person. I myself have learned much from South Park, and each time a reminder is needed I just look back and have myself a nice laugh or
Emotions are the one thing that no one can really get away from and this is a very effective way advertisers can get a potential consumers attention. If someone sees another person crying it triggers the emotion of being sad. Like in this ad, everyone is smiling. A smile is said to be contagious, so seeing all of these important actors and doctors smiling smoking Camel cigarettes gives a consumer the thought that these cigarettes will make them happy. The use of appealing to emotions is strong in the ad, yet it doesn’t say it will make the consumer happy, they assume it
Go on, please.” (698) Mr. Prozi continued on with the experiment until the experimenter called for its conclusion. Morris Braverman’s reaction to the experiment was laughter. He was very calm and matter of fact on the outside yet he spoke of just how tense he was on the inside. “There was I. I’m a nice person, I think, hurting somebody, and caught up in what seemed a mad situation.” (699) Mr. Braverman’s reaction to that situation was laughter which he attributed to being
One of the best scenes he did was the fountain scene. In this scene, his body language and tone of voice were very convincing. Aside from the fountain scene, Ralph Macchio also did excellent in the scene that he dies in. In this scene, he had remarkable body language and displayed his emotions well. The best part of the scene was when he told Ponyboy to stay gold; that part was the most convincing, since it looked like he was actually dying and because of the way he said it.
Everyone loves to have a good friend—someone you can count on to laugh with, tell stories to, crack some jokes with. Not only is it nice to have such a person, but it is healthy. When you have a bad day and need to let off a little steam, it is great to do that with this person. If you allow too many things to build up inside and you are dying to tell someone it is not at all healthy. Maybe that includes being a bit of a “sin committer” as Orwell mentions, but these are friends that are invaluable.
