Explain why or why not. I think there are many reasons a person will laugh at a joke that will put down other people. One such reason is immaturity. Having worked with teenagers I think that this is their favorite way to joke around. I think it makes them feel better about themselves.
Pony is also very friendly to everyone, he also listens to Soda's and Cherry's problems. "You are to sweet to scare anyone" , quote found on page 25. Ponyboy a resilent teen, means he is very durable like he can take alot and still be fine. Drowning and having to take a beating can do alot to a person, but no not to Pony because he is RESILENT. Ponyboy has taken alot.
The circle of people for whom it means something that matters is shrinking. I think the meaning is the same as always but that the societal values and therefore the perception of nerds has evolved and is less negative. Nerds were always people who were very smart and probably socially awkward and if a visual were part of it, usually they wore glasses. I think all of those still apply, but that there's a greater appreciation for nerds and for the sexiness of abnormally intelligent people I think in the "old" days. Kids or people these days got teased a lot, and I know they still do, but, I think there are many more people who are aware that the reason nerds got teased wasn't really their social ineptitude, which could in large measure be traced to them focusing on education rather than social stuff, but rather the fact that the other kids were uncomfortable with their
This rectangular equipment didn't really seem like a toy but it did entertain the child. Ricardo ran his left index finger across the edge. After a minute he returned to where his cylinder toy was and began banging it against that surface. One of the adults acted surprised as if she had caught him doing something het wasn't supposed to and Ricardo let out a loud laughter. At this point, the adults where smiling and engaging with the children.
“Her legs were like a coke bottle, long and shapely. Miss.” Bukowski added the latter part shyly, his cheeks flooding red as his fellow students laughed raucously. Some tried to hide their amusement, covering their mouths with their stubby childish fingers, but what did he care? They were insignificant, immature children. He watched shyly from beneath his long fringe as she laughed demurely, her lustrous curls bouncing with the movement.
Ah just sold some cigarettes.’ They laughed again” (95). They both laugh at the weakest joke. This is realistic because they both like each other and want to humor each other and let their relationship grow. Even the smallest things seem funny when one is in the company of someone they like. Hurston makes it easier to relate to the characters through dialog and actions.
Seinfeld Comedy is a form of art that makes people laugh. But why do people laugh at a situation or jokes? The episodes of Seinfeld were extremely successful in capturing moments of ordinary life and allowing the audience to connect in some way to their situations. The episodes allowed the audience to laugh at the character’s embarrassing gestures and actions. We compare our actions to those of Jerry’s, George’s or Kramer’s to what we would do in our lives.
Sam is generally a very happy child. He throws temper tantrums on occasion, but they are short. Overall, he is
Everyone loves to have a good friend—someone you can count on to laugh with, tell stories to, crack some jokes with. Not only is it nice to have such a person, but it is healthy. When you have a bad day and need to let off a little steam, it is great to do that with this person. If you allow too many things to build up inside and you are dying to tell someone it is not at all healthy. Maybe that includes being a bit of a “sin committer” as Orwell mentions, but these are friends that are invaluable.
Society and the stereotypes all around us enjoy pointing out the fact that teenage boys are selfish, spoiled, crazy, and rude. Why do they do this? People love reading and hearing about stories regarding these types of things; they create conversation, and give people a reason to believe what they believe. Imagine if every adolescent male was perfect in their actions; they performed every act with generosity, obeyed their parents and mentors at all costs, and were very polite and kind to everyone. This would be boring in the eyes of the media, because they enjoy pointing out flaws and showcasing them to the world.
