The last presidential debate was very interesting, intense, and fun to watch to but if I had to choose which one I enjoyed most; it would have to be the Vice Presidential Debate with Joe Biden and Paul Ryan. This debate was mainly about domestic and foreign policy issues. Although it was entertaining listening to the two men talk and “bicker” over domestic and foreign policy issues, I found more interest in another topic. The most interesting thing that caught my attention was when the moderator, Martha Raddatz asked the two men about what role their religion has played in their own personal views on abortion. This segment of the debate was very interesting because apparently it was the first time where there were two catholic candidates on the stage at the same time. Like Martha said, abortion is a very emotional topic in this country and there will always be people who are either pro life or pro choice. Congressman Paul Ryan starts off…show more content…
He says he accepts his church’s position on abortion, which is called “de fide doctrine” which also means “life begins at conception”. What I really liked about Joe Biden’s comment on this whole abortion topic is that he said he refuses to impose his position on others such as Muslims, Christians, and Jews. This may affect women more than men since Paul Ryan, on the other hand, is saying that the Romney administration will oppose abortion under certain circumstances. If Mitt Romney does become president, he will enforce the opposition of abortion and I don’t think it would right for him to tell women that they cannot control their own body. I definitely don’t like the idea of an abortion but I am pro choice and I strongly feel that it is a decision to be made between a woman and her doctor. I believe that everyone is entitled to make their own choice and that you can not force your choice and beliefs on someone else just because you do not agree with
