1870 Canyon Loop Circle Richmond Hill, GA 31324 February 13, 2011 Dear , The book I chose to read for my book report was awesome! It kept me in suspense and made me feel like I was a living character of the story! The name of the book is Jacob’s Rescue: A Holocaust Story. It was published in and written by Malka Drucker and Michael Halperin. Although some of the events were changed in the book, the story about Jacob was a true experience!
1.02 Monotheistic Religions In what ways is the Holy Land an important site for all three monotheistic faiths? The Holy land is important to members of the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic religion because they have lived on the Holy land for generations and have important religious sites located here. The land is holy for Christians because this was where God’s son Jesus was born, crucified and where he resurrected from the dead. For Jews, it contains many Jewish synagogues and this land was promised to them by Yahweh. After a number of Jews were enslaved in Egypt and once freed, Moses helped them escape through the dessert and after over 40 years of traveling in the dessert they finally made it to the promise land by Yahweh which was Canaan.
However, the scrolls do go in to detail of events that do get talked about in the New Testament. The scrolls are of importance because they offer a detailed way of life in the nearby town of Qumran. It also details how these scrolls offer many ideas and beliefs that are very similar to the early Christians. This has caused a rift in the academic community because Jewish scholars claim that the scrolls detail Jewish life, while Christian scholars argue that it is the very beginnings of fundamental beliefs that take root when Jesus arrives. In 1993 a new documentary was filmed about the Dead Sea Scrolls and those that have been associated with it.

One of the reasons that Dmitri Slivniak is knowledgeable about the translations of the bible is that he studied the Hebrew language, among others, through his college career. He works as an editor, proofreader, and translator for the English, French, Hebrew, Russian, and German languages. Slivniak received his MA in French language with specialization in translation from Yerevan University in Armenia, Soviet Union. He also received his Ph D in Biblical Studies from Tel Aviv University in Israel. The essay “The Garden of Double Messages: Deconstructing Hierarchical Oppositions in the Garden Story”, was on of Slivniak’s most well-known publication.
The stone holds the translation of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. This is almost like a translation of the Egyptian language. Hieroglyphics was a form of communication used by priests and scribes (Sayre 75). First glance, many may see this as a slab of stone with writing on it. I myself even saw it as a slab of stone with writing on it, but when I looked deeper into it, I grew a great interest in it.
The ancient Egyptians believed that it was important to record and communicate information about the religion and government. Therefore, they invented written scripts that could be use to hold and record this information. The most famous Egyptian script was hieroglyphic, however throughout the three thousand years of history, at least three other scripts were used for different objectives. The scripts were tools for scribes, so that they were able to preserve the beliefs, history, and ideas of ancient Egypt on papyrus scrolls. One of the most unique traits of the Egyptians was their architectural innovation for building pyramids.
Justine Likuka Student #: S669567 Advanced Old Testament Survey Assignment #:1 Essay Submitted October 15, 2014 Introduction I was greatly thrilled and enjoyed my time reading “A Journey Through the Old Testament” by Elmer Towns. His approach to the subject made interesting reading and raised my interest to dig deeper on the topic. His opening remarks are fascinating as he says “Certain people make history. They are generals who win wars, explorers who discover new areas, rulers who bring about change in society, or thinkers who write books and/or transform the world with their ideas”. Beginnings are important.
Over the past years, Egypt developed drastically through their achievements. Egyptians believed kings ruled after death. They built pyramids as a resting place for an Egyptian king. The Egyptians also developed a writing system that could still be understood today, Hieroglyphics. They used Hieroglyphics to represent ideas and sounds.
Today I am going to talk about what I have learnt about Ancient Egyptian Society, how I researched Ancient Egypt and why we should continue to learn and understand more about Ancient societies in today’s modern world. When completing the Tutankhamun Research Booklet I learnt a lot about Ancient Egyptian Society which I didn’t know before. I learnt that Pharaoh’s are kings and they were the most important people in Ancient Egyptian society. When a king died they were buried in elaborate tombs. Tutankhamun became King at the age of 9 and died at 18.
