Decision in Paradise Part One Phil MGT 350 January 23, 2012 Raquishela Stewart Kava is a significant island in the South Pacific. The population of Kava is mainly children under the age of 15. The children under the age of 15 years make up more than 50% of the population. Kava is populated with ethnic mix of indigenous tribes, Asian, African, French, Spanish, and since world war two, a significant amount of Americans. Half of the population of Kava are indigenous believers, and the rest are evenly divided between Christians, Buddhist, and Islamic. Cocoa, coffee, petroleum, spices, bananas, sugar, tourism, fishing, natural gas, and inexpensive quality labor are what drives the economy of Kava. Using the decision-making steps, first the problem has to be framed. In doing so, the problem is first identified because if the problem the people of Kava are facing is unknown, we cannot find a solution to the problem. One problem Kava is facing is terrorist attacks. Kava faces both internal and external terrorist attacks. Also Kava is faced with natural disasters and HIV/AIDS epidemic The Army defines the criteria, goals, and objectives for the task at hand in an attempt to revive the economy of Kava. Evaluating the effects of the problems, the terrorist attacks and natural disasters have destroyed the Kava economy. The forces involved in the formulation of the problem are the U S Army, economists, and government services from Kava which entails local, state, and national levels to include the Kava military. Furthermore, an ethics code for conducting business must be put in place to guide the conduct of business in the country. We will make sure that all ethic codes are enforced the same way they are enforced in the United States taking into consideration the culture and lifestyle of the people of Kava. Ethics is a set of moral principles. Ethics also can be defined as the principles, norms, and standards of conduct governing an individual or group with emphasis on conduct (Trevino & Nelson, 2007). The human resources department should be set to handle issues such as discrimination, sexual harassment, and many other problems. It is unethical to discriminate against others because of their race or gender. It can lead to lawsuits and that can cost the organization. Therefore, in addition, because there is quality inexpensive labor in Kava, most of the manpower needed to do the job will be the citizens of Kava. This in turn creates jobs for the people of Kava hence a start to boosting the economy of Kava. Some of the organizational structures that need to be put in place are marketing, finance, purchasing, technology, human resources, physical resource, transportation, strategic planning, leadership, and many others to work on getting the Kava economy to an acceptable
