He said that strong group feelings, increased self arousal and a sense of anonymity leads to reduced self awareness leading to Deindividuation. And finally, Prentice-Dunn and Rogers said that being in a large group makes people aggressive for two reasons, both linked to a loss of self identity. The two reasons are: Reduced public self awareness, the individual feels like they cant be identified. This allows the individual to act more aggressively as they feel they wont be caught. And Reduced private self awareness: the psychological arousal caused by the crowd and the strong feelings of group membership prevent the individuals from considering their own morals, ideas and making rational decisions.
There are two types of people in the world, and each type faces the outside world, communication with partners, and themselves differently. The way in which humans deal with the aspects named before determines the way they relate to the world. Therefore, two types of behaviors can be noted by observing people in their daily lives, introversion and extroversion. The introvert is often a person that finds it difficult to take risks, and loathes exposure of any kind during his daily life. Therefore he or she often abstains from activities that may put them in a position were the focus is directed towards him or her, for example taking the initiative to participate in a class activity ,or not complaining when a waiter has mistaken an order.
This surprised me because I have always believed myself to be the creative and emotional type. I thought I needed a friend to enjoy my unusual activities with. I feel isolated from others and I am considerable lonely. I don’t think or feel as if I am misunderstood or unappreciated I mostly feel just left out. The basic communication principle I apply to my personal life experience is knowing my audience and communicating a little at a time.
He “ranged freely over music, literature, art, and other subjects,” but could not agree with what was taking place at Coney Island. Critics like him who had visited the island could not deny the fun environment, but felt that when people arrived a Coney Island, they lost their mind and moral values. Not only were they concerned about human character; they were also concerned about the economy as a whole. Coney Island was changing America “from a ‘pain economy,’ where scarcity of resources demanded a struggle for subsistence, to a ‘pleasure economy,’ in which abundance was potentially available to all” (Kasson 90). People would avoid sin to be sure not to be punished by unemployment and bad economic standings, but without this fear, it was unknown what citizens of the United States would start acting like.
Everyone in the world has a distinct and personal perception of what is in their world and how they relate to it. Many people in society see themselves as being very separate to everything else and ones perception of things, acts, events and circumstances gives them a unique view and opinion of such things. Society tends to band together due to having like minded opinions and views as to how one should act and how one should interact in a given society, those who break the norms are considered different. Society has formed stereotypes to describe how a group of people chooses to live their lives in many different specific ways. People judge other people due to their dress, their skin color, the way they talk, their hair style or the music they listen to and gather these individuals into a view called a stereotype.
There's also a term, ambivert, for people who fall smack in the middle of the spectrum." What differentiates them is the way they process the data that comes to them and how these information comes to them. "Basically an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being around other people" (Bainbridge, C., 2012) while "an extrovert is a person who is energized by being around other people"(Bainbridge, C., 2012). While introverts see extroverts as never shutting up and being everywhere, extroverts tend to look at introverts as being weird. It is being said that no one can be extremely introverts and also no one can be extremely extroverts, a person has a little of each, but more of one than the other and this basis the classification.
People are more influenced by other people than by their own ideas. If someone is wearing an outfit that they like, but is made fun of while wearing it, that person’s going to second guess themselves the next time they go to put it on. Because society as a whole cares about how they look and act, it makes it hard for the individual to be their self and generate their own thoughts. Media is the worst problem within the Marketplace. The media tries to tell society who they are suppose to be.
Psychodynamic theory backs up Carlisle’s theory by the explanation of the ID, controls the seeking pleasure and impulses. These people suffer from weak egos developed by poor social skills and other factors dealing with everyday life. This makes a person over time turn to the fantasy when stressed or feelings of emptiness. The dark side starts to become stronger and takes over the “good” side, they start being controlled by their “Dark side”. “Over time the dark
There is social mobility. But we said Bourdieu's habitus primary remembers often the individual who is guilty of "errors" in their behavior and social behavior indicative of his new status acquired and not inherited. Example: do not like contemporary art, while the social group in which it operates "loves" this (although the increase [o] to be very chic). For Bourdieu, habitus if these two are complementary, the fact remains that it is the primary habitus which dominates and which is most important. He speaks to this as an effect of inertia of the habitus.
People are also able to vote on the comment in terms of whether they are true or false. Invisibility and anonymity provide users with the courage of doing things that they wouldn’t normally do. People who are hidden behind the mask of anonymity are usually more imminent about their life and tend to act very differently as they would in their normal lives where their identity is known, one of the reasons for this is it allows the individuals to merge in to different social settings that their placed in. Many individuals feel down and disheartened due to the lack of sociality or conversation which results to them turning to violent forms of communication like insults, threats and hostile language. Not only in social networking but even in other online scenarios invisibility and anonymity plays a huge part, a person could be browsing through things like messages boards, chat rooms, status comments and others would have no idea the individual was there at all.
