“Whenever we write, whether it’s an email to a friend or a toast for a wedding, an English essay or a resume, we face some kind or rhetorical situation” (Bullock, Goggin 1). There are many different ways to get your point across when it comes to writing, but without a strategy, your point will not be heard. You have to consider what your rhetorical situation is before you start. Bullock and Goggins had some great strategies to go by when it comes to writing. They believed that, “We have a purpose, a certain audience, a particular stance, a genre, and a medium to consider- and often as not a design” (Bullock, Goggin 1).
Format: Your documented research essay MUST be word-processed using an appropriate font and be double spaced. It must include the following: A. Title Page: Prepare a title page with appropriate information in APA format B. The Documented Research Essay: Your essay must have a stated thesis and fully developed paragraphs. In reading "How to Succeed as an Online Student" and "A Soul as Free as the Air: About Lucy Stone" I found that these essays are providing much defined evidence to back up what is being said. Such as in "How to Succeed as an Online Student" they have different topics which narrows down to what the essay will be about and also providing information on those topics which all sums up to the main point and again go back to the title of the essay "How to succeed as an Online Student". Also are supporting the position, and at the same time are making the points very easy to distinguish the difference in each.
