Using systematic sampling to identify and measure the nettle leaves, a strong correlation between light intensity and nettle leaf length was found where nettles that were exposed to lower amounts of sunlight had greater lengths. 1. Research and Rationale Being a very common plant, nettles tend to grow all around the planet and are vital for our ecosystem. Furthermore, nettles are also beneficial to us as they can offer countless medical aids for instance, they can encourage bleeding to cease after dental surgery, they can help with infection and inflammation within the urinary tract and stop hair loss. Aside from the medical uses, nettles can be used to make hot beverages such as tea and delicious nettle soup [1].
and Weed control experts. Hypothesis If home-made and commercial herbicides are sprayed on weeds then the commercial herbicides will be more effective, because the chemicals are made by experts who know what chemicals kill and prevent weeds. Experiment Fill 2 different boxes and fill then with soil make sure to use the same type and amount of soil. Measure around one cup of grass seed and sprinkle it on the soil. Water the seeds daily until the grass is at least 1.5 inches tall.
There is also the possibility that by choosing standard over non-standard your might be missing out on another factor that make the herbs main component work even better. For my three herbs to compare I have chosen Bilberry, Green Tea, and St. John’s wort. Starting with Bilberry the scientific name is Vaccinium myrtillus. Bilberry is used in many ways some of which include improving night, controlling insulin levels, to treat varicose veins, and to prevent cataracts. The standardized form I came across labels the function as being used to support eye health.
This experiment will look at how soda, juice, and water will affect the growth of plants. Diet sodas do not kill plants like regular sodas do. To keep data on how tall the plants grow each day I have been putting the heights of each plant in centimeters on a chart. I check the heights each day and water the plants with their given amount of liquids in the procedures. The liquids I am using are diet sierra mist, tap water and orange juice.
The reason why i think the plant growth light allowed the plant to grow much faster and fuller is because of the different types of wavelength of light generated by the light. The wavelengths that the plant growth light are different from the regular light because it produces wavelengths that the plant can use more efficiently. Plants use most of the wavelengths of light but only a certain few types of wavelengths allow the plant to operate at its full potential while doing photosynthesis. As technology improves so does the way we can grow plant more efficiently not only for home aquariums but for the masses of people around the world by growing corn and other foods faster so we can meet the demands from
-type of plant; buy the same plants -type of pot; but the same pots -same amount of water; measure how much water you give each plant -same environment; place the plants in the same area -same amount of sunlight; keep all plants out of the shade. Part two: Purpose; Max wants to grow vegatables. He asks which grows faster, Spinach or lettuce? Research: He can go talk to someone that owns and runs a green house. He can also go to the library and reseach growing spinach and lettuce.
PURPOSE The purpose of this experiment is to determine whether magnets have an effect on the growth of radish seedlings. I became interested in the study of the effect magnets, when I discovered that magnets could make you heal faster. Later I decided that that it would be a better idea to study the effect of magnets on plants to keep it a safe experiment. The information gained from this experiment may be used to help gardeners growing radishes or other plants. HYPOTHESIS My hypothesis is that the stem of each plant will be attracted to the magnet.
Plant Growth Investigation The scientific method is a way to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing experiments. The question I was attempting to answer was; what are the effects of different types of water on the growth of grass? My hypothesis was if we water the grass seeds with bottled, tap, and salt water, then the seeds getting the bottled water will grow the best and be the tallest at the end of the experiment because the bottled water doesn’t have the toxins that the salt and tap water will have. We needed a lot of materials to conduct our experiment they were; • 6 Seven ounce cups • Soil • Seeds (20 per cup) • The 3 types of water (Salt, Bottled, Tap) • Graduated Cylinder • Ruler • Pencils • Sharpie • Our chart/packet Our procedure was to first gather all of the materials we needed. We first labeled each cup with what type of water we were going to use.
Genetically Engineered Foods Food is the esscence of life and without it, life would fail to exist; however, the wrong nature of food can lead to the same fatal outcome. Foods that are genetically engineered are based on the premise that foods are made better for humans in many different ways (Eschholz and Rosa 537). Using the latest technology, scientists are able to create crops that are more productive to feed the ever growing population or by introducing new traits into already existing foods to make them overall better; it is easy to see why many people would think that this new technology is just another improvement in everyday lives. When modifying the food, scientists take a gene from one species and insert it into a new species to enhance desired traits such as resistance to herbicides or to provide more nutritional results. This way of improving foods has been taking place traditionally by just crossing two plants together and hoping that the new traits are taken without any negative ones (543).
(National Cancer Institute). Each type of tea has a similar ingredient that helps to enhance our wellbeing. Tea would not service our bodies without the one entity it includes: antioxidants. Due to the presence of antioxidants, experts say that tea is healthier than water. Dr. Carrie Ruxton, a nutrition team leader at Kings College, declares, “Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water.
