The Truth About the Media There are many behaviors and habits that have become “normal” in society and have existed almost as long as human beings themselves. Early in History many of these behaviors were controlled by monarchs and the aristocratic oligarch governments that dominated early civilizations. Eventually through inventions and advancements in human thinking, individuality, and forms of art additional factors began to dictate and profoundly influence these behaviors. Today one of the most influential bodies in society is the media. Especially in our behaviors and what we deem as acceptable or for that matter the converse and unacceptable.
Moore is degrading most Americans for having an interest and knowledge of the entertainment part of the nation. Not every person in our nation is interested in just US History, political views and events, Wall Street and culture; they are interested in many different topics. I agree with Moore in the fact that people are generally more interested in watching ESPN than the nightly news. They would choose a sports magazine subscription over a business or art
This drink made America part of the super power countries. These are the drinks that helped changed cultures and made an impact. I believe that the author of this book is trying to tell the readers that any little thing can change a whole society. I think this because he uses different drinks to show how they built cultures around the drinks. For example Tom Standage uses wine to show how Rome and Greece make rituals and ceremonies around
The dominance and power of the west is affecting cultures. Bagdikian states that in 2004 only 7 corporations owned all the media from approximately 50 in 1983. We have seen the rise of the ‘Hastert rule’ among republicans, which dictates that the speaker shouldn’t allow the vote unless the majority of republicans support it. Today members of congress are much more likely to vote along party lines, particularly when it comes to key, controversial issues. For example in 2009 no republicans voted for the fiscal stimulus package, and when it came to the American Taxpayer Relief Act in January 2013 (aimed at avoiding the fiscal cliff) an overwhelming majority of Democrats voted in favour, and almost all republicans voted against. Furthermore the republicans are almost unanimously united in opposition to Obamacare and

Many Americans are classified below the line of poverty, but in retrospect to the rest of the world, Americans seem far from poor. America is considered to be upon the most prominent and successful nations in the world; so, why is over a tenth of our population deemed as "poor" by our government?
In the PBS feature film it goes on to explain how America is in the midst of a demographic shift in which we are seeing marginalization of white people and reform in favor of the Democratic party. The 2012 Presidential Election was adversely favored towards Barack Obama and the Democratic party, the majority reason being a strong influx of non-white voters, more than in any previous elections. The question lies on voters balloting for Obama but black unemployment has risen to double digits since the President has took office. As well as total unemployment being at a high, the national debt is at sixteen trillion dollars.
