1. Relational communication is the broadness of communication in a relationship ( This includes roles, rules, rituals, styles of conflict, expectations, etc. This is the way close relationships work and everything related to communication in this way. A) There are many aspects to relational communication. One aspect of relational communication is the history of communication one has with others. Any past communication issues can affect the present or future communication one has with a significant other. An example of this is if person A gets angry when person B brings up their future, person B will retain from making comments or trying for conversation about their future. This is a unique form of communication because there are many different parts to ones style of communication. Without studying this portion, it may be hard to understand the underlying style of the certain person in fullness. This is important to study within relational communication because it could answer certain questions regarding building communication styles. A lot of one’s communication style is a ‘learned trait’, or in other words, from experience or someone advising them to communicate in a certain way. B) Another aspect to relational communication is future interaction expectations. There may be a time when you know you aren’t going to see a person again, or it wouldn’t matter what they thought and you could have a TMI situation (too much information). This could happen if you were spilling your guts out to a stranger on a bus. This is an extremely unique part of relational communication because you screen what you say in order to retain the relationship. If you believe someone may look down at you if you tell them you went out drinking the night before, it may create in awkward situation the next time you see them. In future
