We view through our history that major conflict in the form of war and political matters lead may to experience horrific life-changing conflicts. Conflict is beyond the reaches of our control, as we may be wholly influenced by others and their actions, we may also be tested in an extraordinary way that can be show us the different circumstances we are placed in. this may also show the people who seem least weak, are capable of what they are doing. Those who experience conflict are truly tested as they must stay focused and make senses of who is around them, and what they are experiencing. Tybalt and Mercutio’s death) • Elegy is about a “bloody fray”, but leaves out parts of Mercutio’s insults to Tybalt. • Tries to provide a fair account of what happened, maintaining that Romeo behaved properly while Mercutio and Tybalt wanted to fight. Also how he did not have time to intervene, as it went by so fast. • Elegy: a mournful, melancholic or plaintive poem, especially a funeral song or a lament for the dead. • Elegy is also considered an epic poem: ordinarily concerning a serious subject containing details of heroic deeds and events • In the elegy, mention of Mercutio was left out and positive comments of Romeo’s behaviour, believed that Benvolio was homosexual.
Achilles is the central story line in the Iliad that is why I chose to write my paper on Achilles. It may look like the main theme is about the gruesomeness first read it, but that is not the main idea. The fighting and Trojan War is compared to “Saving Private Ryan.” It gives great details of the war without missing any of the details. Achilles is the character I was most interested in because he was a great fighter, man, and hero. You can see how Achilles becomes mature from a warrior in the beginning to a reserved and thoughtful man at the end of the Iliad.
The characters of Hamlet and Achilles, even though from very different time periods, encompass many of the same themes and characteristics. These two characters have many close comparisons, but upon closer inspection they differ on a grand scale. This is immanently due mainly to the time period and culture that each character was submersed in and how each character was supposed to act and to extenuate the main essence of the individual culture. Achilles was considered one of, if not, greatest warrior of the Trojan War in Homer’s Iliad. What made Achilles such an honorable hero was the fact that he fought for his own pride, not the desire to conquer the war.
However, these different texts provide historians with a range of accounts that challenges the various evidence in presenting a singular, reliable account of the Trojan War, but they are useful in presenting the idea that war did take place. A text that provides historians with information about the Trojan War is Homer's Iliad. Written in 8th century BC, the Iliad is an epic poem that presents evidence to suggest the Trojan War was a significant event in society. Homer's Iliad gives an account of the events that caused the Trojan War. He writes that the war began when Helen, the wife of King Menelaus left for Troy with Paris, the son of the Trojan King.
Memory makes the world go There are many themes of memory and forgetting in the world of “The Odyssey”. Both play a huge part on the events that take place. To say which is more important in “The Odyssey” is debatable. Some of my arguments will show how in some cases one is better than the other, but even though there may be instances where forgetting may have been more beneficial, in the end I will show how memory is more valuable as it pertains to the main characters Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachos. In the Greek world during the time period of “The Odyssey”, men who went into battle wanted to be glorified for their sacrifice and be remembered forever.
Medea Analysis In Euripides’ play Medea, there is love, hate, betrayal, revenge and so much more that takes place. Euripides has his readers questioning everything in his play from the literal characters actions to themes of the play to the Greek ideals that he is challenging. For example, he makes the reader question between justification and revenge. He makes you question if Jason could have been a hero on his own. Euripides questions the Greek ideal woman and her characteristics.
Although Odysseus and Lyra are both seen as heroes, they are different in many ways. Their differences prove that there isn’t a set “mold” for heroes. Odysseus is a strong male warrior. He is the ruler of a nation and an important figure in his society. He gets through his dilemmas and challenges using his clever nature.
* Clytemnestra mentions the start of a new beginning, hinting that something is going to change and also signaling the end of the war. * The chorus demands to know why she has ordered sacrifices to all the gods and celebrations throughout the city. They recall the story of Iphigenia. * She tells them that Troy has fallen to the Greeks. They wonder whether she has dreamed this, or perhaps heard a rumor.
This action of Paris creates rivalry between the two cities and the Trojan War strikes in. Atreus’s sons have vowed that they will bring Helen back home and in order to win the war, Agamemnon sacrifices his own daughter to gods. Oresteia depicts number of sins
