With saying that, I know that if I try hard and work hard, I will reach success. I must know that along with success comes failure. When failure happens I must not let it get in the way of my goals, I must develop ways I can fix my failure and keep moving. I also must learn the traits of a successful person, see the parts of my life that need improvement, and then move toward more success in my own life. Taking control of my choices and not being a victim of the change life is going to throw at me is another role that is important on my way to success.
Usually, familial pride starts off, and stays, a healthy, driving force. The pressure applied by parents in a constructive family can push a member to be all that they are capable of. For example, a child could be required to make good grades. I know I’ve personally heard the “but you’re capable of an A” speech many a time after I’ve tried to explain a stray B on my progress reports. Or perhaps they’ll force a teenager to get a productive job, rather than to lie around the house curled up in a pile on the couch.
All in all The Alchemist and “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful” have similar themes in which one sees the hardships in life, but finds the strength to overcome them. “There is only one way to learn…It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey” (Coelho 132). What does this mean? It means that one has to use action to get through one’s life struggles and learn from them, the actions one takes can make you wise.
Lastly, if we were to assume that we are truly in control of our destiny/outcome, living in a vacuum from externalities, what would be the need for gratitude and humility? We would in that world be fully accountable and could boast of our successes or be suicidal in our failures. It simply is not realistic and the guidelines for doing these is to evaluate where our thinking fits inside the confines of the model. My learning and take away is to accept that we do live in a world where externalities do exist, and influence our lives. The key however is to learn to accept that which we cannot change, and take
All they need to know that that every life is valuable and it is everyone’s responsibility to promote safety on the road. But mostly I will play on their emotions because I will put them in the frame of mind of knowing just how easy it is to lose someone they love. 11) What position that is different from yours might cause your audience not to accept your position? (Note: There may be more than one.) Now that you have identified it, what do you need to add to your own argument to convince your audience that this alternate position should be rejected in favor of your own position?
I believe that everything happens for a reason, in my personal opinion. Every good thing or every bad thing we do is just another lesson in life or obstacle we have to overcome. We have to learn from our mistakes, do better and make sure it doesn’t happen to us ever again. Making a bad or wrong decision can lead up to you going through depression or
Whitman explains that we have the choice either to; except all the bad things in the world and move on in order to pursue happiness, or to never move past an awful experience and live a terrible life. I have realized through this poem, that in order to make the world a better place, we ourselves first have to except this fact, and to let go of any dreadful incidents in order for people to be happier. I understand that some people just can’t handle it, or it might take longer than others to forgive & forget. But, if a majority of the human beings on Earth today worked toward this goal, then people would be more understanding, and more open/kind to new possibilities. Although, I know this is hoping for too much, but I can gradually see small changes in what people do and say in the modern world.
So far in my career I have made a few mistakes but making mistakes are a part of life, and I believe there is always a chance to learn from those mistakes. One way to ensure that the same mistakes aren’t made could be to list the choices I have made and the outcomes that they’ve had. Once that is complete I will make another list that shows what could have been done differently and what a possible outcome could have been. This will be my own personal way of ensuring every decision I make is an Honorable decision. I also realized that when you aren’t 100 percent honest about your own personal problems you aren’t being honorable.
In the Pursuit of Perfect by Tal Ben-Shahar, he sheds some light into the possibility of obtaining a happy life even with the struggles and challenges that may come our way. It is how we tackle these obstacles and avoid being a perfectionist and adopting an Optimalistic approach. Tal Ben-Shahar provides a step-by-step process to conquer the fear of failure and by taking these tools we learn and apply them to our love life and our lives in general. Failure is a word that most of us don’t want to hear or even experience. We do everything we can to steer away from failing by putting a ton of pressure on ourselves, creating intense anxiety and ultimately being unhappy.
Included in his article is that, as a whole, we need to change our views on morality and our way of life that we take for granted every day and if it is within our power to keep bad things from happening then we have a moral obligation to do so without sacrificing what we see as morally important (Singer, 1972). In his first counter argument that deals with Singer’s previous statement, he describes it as deceptive. When a person steps in and attempt’s to make a difference, no matter how close (proximity), or how far (distance) that person will in some way change his
