Geocaching is an outdoor activity in which a person uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world. Geocaching is an activity for people of all ages and abilities, and can be enjoyed by young children as well as people with disabilities. There are millions of caches hidden all over the world in, cities, countries, fields and forests and everything in between. There is really no right or wrong way to get started in geocaching, but hopefully this will inspire you to try out an exciting new hobby. It isn't hard to get started. Anyone who has ever played hide and go seek or done an Easter egg hunt already knows most of what they need to. Geocaching is basically nothing more than a worldwide Easter egg hunt with a technological twist. A geocache is a durable and waterproof container such as a plastic lock and lock or military ammo can which contains a logbook. Someone hides the geocache and marks the latitude and longitude coordinates using a handheld GPS unit. Your goal is to use those coordinates and your own handheld GPS unit to locate the hidden geocache. Once you find it, you sign the log inside as proof, leave the cache hidden, and then log your find online. At the most basic level, that is all there is to geocaching.
