Incident Response Case Study By Eugene Snow JR. HMLS 302 6980 (12 July 2014) Professor Dr. Redd Branner Introduction What is incident response? Well there can be many different meanings for incident response based on whom you ask or more importantly based on the incident at hand. In my line of work we have incident response teams (IRT) or Emergency Response Teams (ERT), and they are groups of individuals made up of different elements that can support certain functions pertaining to different incidents. My teams are prepared to handle events such as natural disaster that may affect the operations of my facility and other assets that I as the emergency management officer am responsible. We developed pre-planned responses (PPR) to different events, identifying the assets that we actually own and manage independently from the base. We also develop a list and process for obtaining assets from outside entities in support of our planned responses. The purpose of this case study is to demonstrate our government’s ability to react and or have a plan to react to certain types of incidents. Incorporating a pre-planned response ideology and asset management. The focus will be on the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and Secret Service. These three subjects are great examples of fast paced incident response vehicles that cannot operate without a plan. Risk Risk is something that can be measured by each person in a different manner. Its severity is also different from person to person, or business to business. I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1989 and shortly after we began the Iraq War campaign. It began with Desert Shield which was primarily a show of force and that didn’t deter anyone’s will to change. Shortly after that we executed Operation Desert Storm.
