Depression Many times we go through life not knowing how the simplest things can affect someone. Whether it is emotional, physical, or both we see people who wake up every morning, just trying to get through the day. Simply acting as if everything is okay and nothing has even happened. Depression is a crazy thing filled with undesirable urges, changes in personality, and many ruined relationships. Waking up one day, someone could be the happiest person ever; suddenly it all seems to change. It’s like a sudden rush of the Great Depression has just hit. It’s almost as if, the person’s whole life has just drastically turned for the worse. Nobody ever seems to understand why or how; it just seems to happen all the time. Sometimes things get so rough it’s like ending your life is the easiest way out. The simple path to freedom, almost as if it’s like ending their life, would end everything they’ve ever felt. They feel nothing, but the sudden urge to just let the pain go; their heart beating as fast as a cheetah chasing after its prey. Sometimes self-harm is the only answer. Taking that shiny, metal blade and sticking it to their wrist; cutting deeper just to feel the ease of the pain drift away. It’s almost as if they can taste the numbness going away. The smell of the iron from the blade; seems to soothe the pounding of the heart. Feeling completely numb, one tear at a time. The touch of the blood dripping from their arm as they try to clean the mess that they have just made. It’s as if they have just let a sudden rush of pain out, and the lump that felt as if a jawbreaker was stuck in their throat; finally arose letting them breathe. Some find burning themselves to be pleasurable. The feeling of skin just sizzling, a feeling for them of letting go. Smelling the burning as if it is smelling a sweet just cooked homemade apple pie. Sometimes the pain gets to be too much; they simply try to just die. The feeling of not being able to breathe, their mind just soaring to a new height; almost as if they are floating up in the sky. Some attempt and succeed, but those who fail just feel a sudden urge of rage or like they have completely failed.
