The Hot Zone Part one, chapter five on pages 66 and 67, Gene Johnson would infect several monkeys with the deadly Ebola virus, then tried to treat the infected monkey with drugs in hope that the drugs would make them better. That way he might discover the drug that will help destroy Ebola in the human organ systems. By trying the different drugs, there are many choices in discovering the drug that will actually destroy the virus, but Johnson’s way seems to be the easiest. It seems that his way works great until all the monkeys are dead then he wouldn’t be able to discover the drug because he would most likely get the virus as well since the virus is transmitted by contact with blood and bodily fluids. Overall it is ethical because it’s the easiest and quickest way to find out everything about the virus.…show more content…
None of the experimental drugs worked and the monkeys later died with expressionless faces. Their noses were bloody; their eyes were half-opened, glassy and brilliant red, with dilated pupils. I think I would have done the same thing to the monkeys. Scientist could not find out which drug works or how to treat the virus unless they test it on someone or something like monkeys. Overall I think the behavior is ethical because we have to test the virus some way or another and that is the best way to find out things. Besides the test have to be experimented on monkeys because they are the closest things to a human and the virus can not tell the difference between a human being and
