Abstract Justice has different definition for many. Prior to attending the University of Phoenix I was limited in my knowledge of the true meaning of justice. For me justice meant fairness and seeing that a victim sees a righteous outcome that the guilty are punished, and the innocent protected. I have come to discover that this is not reality. Justice has different variations of the meaning as it progresses throughout the criminal justice system, law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Having a better understanding of what justice means to myself and others and how it plays different roles in all aspects of the criminal justice system will enable me to be more successful in my future career in criminal justice. Part of the necessary training needed for all criminal justice professional is ethics training. Ethical violations are unfortunately found in various professions, not only law enforcement. Every time someone turns on the news there is a scandalous report of a corporations, politicians, sports figures, or entertainers who has committed one or many unethical acts. These unethical behaviors are nothing new. For example, the White House has seen its share of controversies, from Watergate to Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski. Then there was the Enron Corporation scandal, which in 2001 revealed how executives hid billions of dollars in debt through deceit and loopholes. Be well prepared would include continued education and training, expanded communication between criminal justice agencies, and continued advancements in technology.
