Fist Stick Knife Gun, an autobiography by Geoffrey Canada and “The Wave”, a nonfiction movie by Morton Rhue deal with the issue of influence. They both suggest that teenagers are easily persuaded into thinking a certain way; When adults tell them it is the right thing to do they catch on. Mr. Ross in “The Wave” taught his students that discipline and community were all you needed to have a strong group of people. Geoffrey Canada from Fist Stick Knife Gun thought that violence was the only answer as a child because that is all he ever knew. In both situations peoples thinking is influenced greatly by others around them.
He was the student that teachers dreaded having in their classroom: boisterous, unruly, and indifferent to authority. Mike had many brushes with the law throughout his high school years, for crimes ranging form vandalism to public drunkenness. Mike dropped out of high school to take a job as an oil-change technician at a local garage; he spends most of his free time and money at local bars-- at least the one's that haven't banned him from starting fights. Mike's current legal trouble surrounds two of his ex girlfriends, who are independently taking him to court for child support. mike is unfazed, however; he laughs with his friends that they'll never get a dime from him.
Quentin carries around a suitcase stuffed with books wherever he goes and finds excuses to get out of gym class. He is excitable and often confounds the other members and townspeople with his advanced vocabulary when jumpy. Jimmy "O'Dell" Carroll: is small and excitable, the most emotional member of the group. His father drove the town garbage truck, allowing O'Dell access to many useful items, frequently scrounged to further the group's efforts. He is always scheming ways of making money, from the failed iron scrap attempt—which took an entire summer, yielded a net loss of one dollar, not counting the destruction of borrowed equipment, and almost killed Sonny—to the profitable harvesting of ginseng.
Chris had many problems growing up he thrived off of his peers laughter and enjoyment but his biggest priority was making his dad proud which caused him so much grief and psychological problems through his life. Christopher Crosby Farley Born February 15th 1964 was the middle child of 6. Chris’s siblings as well as Chris would always fight for their father’s acceptance whether it was in academics or athletics. Since Chris was the middle child he was never the favorite growing up, Chris always looked for attention every day on the bus he would sing specific songs based off of his comedic attitude that day. All Chris cared about was making people laugh that was his life’s motive.
The inspiration for most of his stories come from true inspired events that happened with real kids, in real life. One of Crutcher most popular books, Whale talk, was published in 2001. Its main conflict involves a black “athlete” (T.J. jones)who is good at virtually every sport, but never turns out for the team because his morals and values involving team work are not represented, and even trashed by some members of the team, especially the cocky varsity quarter back (who just happens to play every sport the school offers). It has gotten to the point where other students and even coaches persecute him for “being blessed with talent, and throwing it in the trash, selfishly only thinking of himself.” And when the only teacher who sides with him is told he must become a active coach (this is a sports school who last year barley missed it by a few points for over all state champion) in order to help the school earn more points for the state competition, he decides to put the joke on the administration and other coaches. He convinces the administration to let him start a swim team, so instead of adding a few points on another sport, he adds and entire sport to get points for.
I remember that walk home was the longest one of my life. (Graham 7) Reading this quote shows that his classmates came up with anything they could so they could make fun of him. As a teenager, Drake’s social life did not get much better than his childhood’s. Drake did anything he could to fit in, from smoking to drinking, you name it. All he wanted was to be accepted, but it was hard to fit in because he was not rich and white like all of his other classmates.
Ricky choses the hardest books imaginable. He believes in reading up on what others have to say about a difficult book, and then making up his own mind about it. He says that part of the reason he feels this way is because of his teacher, Mr. Buxton, who taught him Shakespeare in 10th grade. Ricky shares how Mr. Buxton met him one night to go over the text line by line, but he didn’t share the conclusion with Moody, he left that for him to figure out on his own. Reading Umberto Eco’s “Role of the Reader” in college, Ricky states that, “The reader completes the text, that the text is never finished until it meets this voracious and engaged reader.” Although there are critics who believe there is a right and a wrong way to ready books, Moody says, “I believe there is not now and never will be an authority who can tell me how to interpret, how to read, how to find the pearl of literary meaning in all cases.” Part 2.
However, when Jamal had to turn in an assignment for a competition at school, he couldn’t resist the temptation. The first paragraph of his essay was written by Forrester. Little did Jamal know, Forrester’s borrowed first paragraph had already been published. Jamal’s teacher, Crawford, was already upset with Jamal for being such an excellent writer. When he caught him plagiarizing, it was to Jamal’s demise.

He was the class president and there is a way that they should act and that’s not it. He and the other boys respected the school wrong for them. And they are senior they should be the role model for those kids not the other way
Simon ends up taken coops girlfriend from him. Then after Simon finds out secrects abouts his new friends, He uncovers a dangersous and burtal side that no one likes. Glass got so cought up into his new friends that he cheated for Coop on his ACT and changed his grades in the computer so that he could take a different class, with his father knowing. Althought Simon was a nerd, he was independently wealthy .Simon starts turn his new friends agaisnt each other. Simons smarts was going to take him far in life, but who know that his new friends was going to bring it to an end very fast.
