Free Running In this report I will be discussing Free Running and the founder Sebastian Foucan specifically his physical and spiritual views on Free Running also discussing my knowledge of this style of movement and how it has helped me choreograph my own movement phrase. This dance works with music developing a strong beat and correlation and discussing the relationship between the music and movement. I will be using all research I have found, developing all my ideas to put towards this assignment. Free Running is an exciting form of acrobatics. It uses the city and landscape as its stage. Free Running evolved from Parkour which is known as the art of movement, Parkour is about moving from A to B in the most quick and efficient way possible, where as Free Running makes moving from A to B look good using acrobatics and freedom of movement. Free Running is about following your own path, never looking back and keeping the mind focused on the obstacles ahead. Parkour is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body. It is meant to help one overcome obstacles, which can be anything in the surrounding environment—from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls—and can be practiced in both rural and urban areas. Parkour practitioners are referred to as traceurs, or traceuses for females. Founded by David Belle, Parkour focuses on practicing efficient movements to develop one's body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency. Sebastian Foucan, the founder of free running, was born 24Th May 1974 in Paris. He was born to Guy and Lydie Foucan, with Caribbean origins (Guadeloupe), and brought up with his 4 brothers and 1 sister. Free Running is the result of 18 years of practice and thinking.
