Verrocchio was born to Michele di Francesco Cioni in Florence in 1435 and died in 1488 in Venice. During his short life, he had several students, including both the famous Leonardo da Vinci and Lorenzo de Credi. His work also influenced Michelangelo, another famous Italian Renaissance painter and sculptor. Although only in 1559 did Siena become part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany under the rule of the Medici Simone was a major figure in the development of early Italian painting and greatly influenced the development of the International Gothic style. Simone was very possibly a pupil of Duccio di Buoninsegna, the leading Sienese painter of his time.
As you can see from this source, Agricola made the roman baths a very luxurious place to visit, he almost spoiled the people, gaining their support. Within the towns were many key buildings which insinuate what people did during their daily lives. In the centre of every town was the Forum which was a large square area where markets and meetings were held. At one end of the forum was the basilica where the Gods where worshipped. The temples where so close to the forum and almost right in the centre of the town which I think enforces the fact that religion was so important during roman Britain.
Three of the major artists were, Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, and Andrea Palladio. Bramante was an architect and painter and was known as the chief architect in Rome. He expanded on the 15th century idea of self-awareness, which he transformed into a perception of one's position in a complex by response to mass and volume (Donato Bramante, 2011). During this era, Bramante designed many works that labeled him an artist of the High Renaissance. One of his most beautiful pieces of architecture, Tempietto is Italian for small temple.
Amidst the authentic sculptures, paintings, and tapestry cleverly displayed on the walls of the various chambers in the Duomo Museum of Florence, Italy, lies a piece of art that has influenced the way people of the Renaissance have thought about their society. Intricately engraved in marble in 1439, the Cantoria, or “Singing Gallery” is truly one of the most influential pieces of humanist work. Created by artists Donatello and Luca Della Robbia, the Cantoria is an intricate masterpiece that would have been used at the time as balconies for the Florence Cathedral church choir to sing in. Unfortunately, it was much too small and fragile, and weekly usage would not only result in possible damage, but possess a risk for the choir members, as the balconies could easily collapse. It was already unrecognizable as a piece of furniture however; people thought it was a delicate piece of art from the moment it was taken into the church.
