Nash helped people remember all those who influenced the revolution that were lost in history amnesia. Such influences were common farmers who created mass mobs and in short did almost “civil” acts of militia men. As Nash wrote in the secondary source, the men “turned the city upside down,” meaning Boston. In a letter written by Governor Morris in New York, writes his comments on the “mob.” It goes as follows,”the heads of the mobility grow dangerous to the gentry, and how to keep them down is the question.” Riots were all along the north and seemed to have affected New York in this pressing matter on taxations. In Nash’s article, many Aristocrats feared the impact the riots would have on other groups such as those that are slaved.
Like most dictators Ben Ali is trying to draw the attention away from the protestors and the problem by showing the public that he so call cares about the citizens of the country. In the article, Ben Ali, his family and regime, are viewed as a mafia family. The Ben Ali family is said to have their hands in almost every piece of business that takes place in Tunisia. And like a mafia family, they try to keep a keep a positive image to the outside public, while treating their people wrong. Since the came to power in 1987, Ben Ali dramatically boosted the number of university and college places so that one in three young Tunisians now go on to some form of higher education.
There were two aristocrat brothers (Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus) acknowledged this growing problem and proposed a solution to this growing problem. The plan was to urge the council to take back public land held by large land owners and to redistribute it to the landless Romans. Senators were furious by this proposal and had the two brothers assassinated further after. There was absolutely no voice for the plebes in the roman republic. And the only aristocrats who stood up for change were assassinated by corrupt senators.
But instead of trying to gain knowledge it is being destroyed, all because society is trying to promote ignorance which causes sameness in all. Montag battles this sameness and goes against what society offers up because of his belief in what humanity can become and what it will become if nothing is changed. The plots are similar as well. Both are trying to accomplish something that goes against their society but they know
Creon is sorry for what he was done, he repents, but it is already too late. He only finds true justice when everything he cared for was gone. Creon’s tragic flaw was that he was resolute; he did not want Polynieces to be buried. He received multiple warnings that this would lead to his downfall. He was put into the position of King.
Creon is compared to “a politician without the capacity to be a statesman, because he cannot resist the temptations of power” (Winnington-Ingram). Creon struggles with greed for money and lust for power. He is an unjust lawmaker as well as a strict and ruthless law enforcer. This causes the people of Thebes to live in fear of Creon. Creon asks Antigone if she attempted to bury her brother Polynices.
This staple of his beliefs is why he doesn't fear death, but in fact looks forward to it. By escaping he is committing an unjust act against the state, and committing unjust acts ruins the soul. With a ruined soul there is no point in living life as the soul is the only important thing, not the body. Therefore the most important thing is not only living life, but living a just life. While Socrates arguments may be sound in his opinion, I'm not sure if I agree with them.
Action is a principle the oppressors’ hold dear to their heart. These oppressors, in using action, become a majority and if that majority is not met with action from the minority, tyranny will be displayed in the streets, for Gods and man alike to witness. Surely you can relate to this, cramped in a jail cell like a mind stripped of all learned knowledge. What good are great minds like yours and mine if we cannot express our thoughts without fear from the laws of man? I humbly bow to your attempt to challenge man to think beyond their own beliefs by simply questioning just what their beliefs are.
I wanted to show that even though they tried to help they feel like they failed trying to help. The deaths of the innocent will continue, because no one is truly listening to what people are saying, and the sad part is that most people know what happens, however fear is what holds people back from justice. Fear is what keeps people from helping their peers, from helping themselves. The government cover up doesn’t help the people but instead ends up harming people, when they ask for the help. I wanted to portray the fact that people end up getting hurt if they try to
However, the Terror enforced and promoted laws against equality and liberty ideals. Such rights like freedom of speech, freedom of religion were buried deep down when ending with opposition. The Reign of Terror gave birth to laws that were opposed to Christianity, closing churches, and surprisingly making men of the clergy to instead of vow to the church vow to be loyal to the constitution. Those were primitive laws that should have never been meant to see the light of day as they failed to put a stop to such actions that were hurtful to the society. All this barbarism was self-inflicted and could have been avoided.
