Dorothy also experience different types of abuse from her husband. Several petitions for protective orders were issued against Marrill. Dorothy owned several rental properties in which she brought into the marriage. Marrill was mostly retired throughout their marriage and provided no financial contribution to the management of those properties. The law also makes it illegal to retaliate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit." (Laws Enforced by EEOC 2) At my work place this law is followed and abided by. For example, the lead teller at our branch was recently hired and she was two months pregnant. That did not affect her hiring process. We also, had one employee who was on maternity leave, and we had a temporary employee filling her spot.

Finally, he concludes his viewpoints with disagree vote of women should be in combat like men. The author gives many example about Ms.Faulker case who is the first woman invited to study in a famous American military academy school. It seems the author is really bias to argue the viewpoints that woman is not a person, who had mentally tough enough to survive in combat. Moreover, he also shows some statistics to prove his idea that women do not have enough physical strength. This essay will critically respond to these ideas of the article.
Controversy exists if clients who are still using alcohol or drugs should be treated in integrated mentally ill chemical affected (MICA) programs. Total abstinence is the goal of treatment for all MICA clients, and working towards this goal can take several years (Sciacca, 1991). MICA clients are characterized with having a DSM-III-R, Axis 1 diagnosis of a severe mental illness, which exists independently of substance abuse. MICA clients usually require medication to control their psychiatric illness, and if medication is stopped, their symptoms are likely to emerge or worsen (Sciacca, 1991). “MICA persons, even in remission, frequently display the residual effects of major psychiatric disorders, such as marked social isolation or withdrawal, blunted or inappropriate affect, and marked lack of initiative, interest, or energy” (Sciacca, 1991, p. 2).
Running head: BATTERED WOMAN SYNDROME AN ECLECTIC PERSPECTIVE Battered Woman Syndrome: An Eclectic Perspective Laura R. Koel Contemporary Issues in Psychology Nov 08, 2007 Battered Woman Syndrome: An Eclectic Perspective Domestic violence and specifically violence against women is an important and serious contemporary issue in need of immediate and continued attention by society. According to Carpenito (1996) domestic violence is a behavior chosen by a batterer to gain control over another person. There are thousands of women in intimate relationships in our society who are victims of domestic violence by their male partner. Culture, economic status, or education does not exempt one from being battered. It can happen to anyone in any class of people and in any neighborhood.
Introduction: Has there ever been a time in your life where you were embarrassed to tell someone something that happened to you? A time where you thought no one would believe you? Did you know that every two minutes in the United States, someone is sexually assaulted (RAINN.org)? One in six women will be assaulted in their lifetime but less than half will report it, and an estimated ninety-four percent will never come to the attention of the criminal justice system (McGregor). A research letter in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, “Why Don’t More Women Report Sexual Assaults to the Police?” written by Margaret J. McGregor, was an interest to me.
When it comes to getting terminated from employment, which could cause a loss of opportunity to achieve success, a company can’t fire a person due to their gender, race, nation of origin, disability, pregnancy, or age. Without these laws, a person of minority could be terminated based on any of the factors listed. An example of this would be a pregnant woman being fired due to an employer thinking she is not productive enough because she has morning sickness that causes her to go to the bathroom more frequently. By a company firing a pregnant woman for this reason, they are breaking a law and would be at risk of being fined or sued for wrongful termination. Having all these laws protecting a person’s employment, gives them a better chance at achieving success and the American
When I report to work I expect to have to deal with typical work responsibilities but I never expect to have to play middle man to a coworker feud. Two of my closest coworkers do not get along. They cannot work together or share responsibilities. The situation is trying and every approach possible has been taken to encourage these two ladies to work it out. Recently, I was called down to the hotel’s Human Resources Department to be interviewed concerning how impossible the feud has become.
