Julius Caesar dismissed the multiple warnings to beware the Ides of March. Consequently, a group of conspirators sent daggers through the body of the ancient Roman leader. All these conspirators conspired and executed their plan due to selfish and jealous motives, excluding the play’s tragic hero. In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Brutus fulfills the role of the tragic hero because he possesses qualities of a good person, and he has a sense of commitment. Through words and actions William Shakespeare paints the picture that Brutus is a virtuous individual who believes in and stands by certain moral traits.
As Iago ends Act 1 with his soliloquy, we become sure that dishonesty is one of his most revered qualities. People may be good or bad or right or wrong, but we’re all just individuals made up of different parts. Some parts unique, but some are evidence of our inherent idiosyncrasy, proof that we’re all citizens of the world. Being maniacally brilliant, Iago lies to and manipulates the characters in Othello with hardly a second thought. He’s remarkably cunning at how he gets where he wants to go.
Antigone; Polynices sister tries to bury him and Creon has her captured for a punishment. In ‘Antigone’ Creon is the tragic hero because he displays the elements of a Greek tragedy peripeteia, anagnorisis and hubris. Hubris is the excessive pride of arrogance; it is the quality in a character that most often brings about their downfall in tragedy. Creon portrays hubris toward several characters in the play like; Antigone and Teiresias. 'I do believe the creatures both are mad, one lately crazed, the other from her birth' (Sophocles 141) In this quote Creon is calling both Antigone and Iseme crazy for feeling sorrow for their brothers death.This displays hubris because he is being ignorant as he is filled with excessive pride.
The question everyone is asking is what Brutus does make him noble or an honorable stature. Brutus kills Julius because I believe he is persuaded by Cassius for Rome’s own good. In the play I believe Brutus’s character was very strong and his integrity. The fact that he basically could control the conspirators and over power Cassius definitely showed it. Brutus just wants to do the right thing for Rome, but I do believe when Cassius thinks killing Julius is the best thing for Rome Brutus was easily manipulated and deep down inside Brutus knows that.
I believe Romeo killed Tybalt because Tybalt was the killer of his best friend Mercutio. I bet if thou were in the same situation as Romeo, thou would have revenged your beloved friend. It was all out of self defense Prince. Another reason to forget your prosecution on Romeo is because Tybalt was the one to start the fight when he drew his sword requesting
Othello: A Tragic Hero Othello is the epitome of a tragic hero. He starts out as a rather respectable and rational General, but was eventually consumed by jealousy and anger. A tragic hero must start out high in power and have tragic flaws that lead him to ultimately a tragedy. Othello’s tragic flaw is that he is easily manipulated, leading him to trust the wrong people. The play begins by showing the readers that Othello is a noble General.
Was Macbeth’s decline and death his own fault? In the play “Macbeth”, written by William Shakespeare, we notice that Macbeth’s decline and his death is the result of his own fault. Macbeth is one of the main characters in the play, he transforms from being a war-hero to becoming a vicious murder. The arguments that support this statement to be true are: Macbeth’s ambition, the killings of Duncan, Banquo and Macduff’s family and finally Macduff’s revenge. Firstly, Macbeth’s decline and death is his own fault because of his ambition.
The conflict of the play begins during a struggle for the throne, which at its end only begets a period of corruption and betrayal. The dramatic qualities of the play begin to show themselves as Titus seeks to avenge the brutal rape of his daughter and in doing so begins to rid the Roman Empire of the corruptors. While Shakespeare’s emphasis on the downfall of Rome is evident throughout the play, the audience cannot help but witness the downfall of Titus’ family as well. Shakespeare displays the breakdown of each of the characters as if to symbolize the effects of the collapse of Rome in each one of them. Beginning with Bassianus, the audience witnesses his decline as the throne is taken from him and given to his brother Saturninus due to primogeniture.
A tragedy is a story of a person’s demise brought on them by the specific flaws in their character. The “Tragedy of Othello” by William Shakespeare tells a story of deceit and revenge. Othello, the central figure of the play, is a man noble to his country and people. He is an amazing character, a tragic hero, who has befallen to undeserved misfortune and folly. While it may seem, that the tragedy of Othello was caused by the evil villain Iago, I believe that he was not the only one to blame.
Brutus is an honerable man.... the words chosen by Mark Anthony in William Shakespeare's popular play "Julius Caesar." Anthony starts the speech off speaking how Brutus just explained how Caesar was an ambitious man which is why he was murdered. Anthony argues with that stating how Caesar gave to the needy when they needed, "When the poor has cried, Caesar has wept." Following this statement he mocks Brutus saying, "But Caesar was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man." After that was all stated he reminded the people how Carsar did turn down the kings crown multiple times, "I thrice presented him a kinlgy crown, Which he did thrice refuse."
