Down the Street from Grace The Haitian Journey By Shelia V. Towns August 2011 Preface & Introduction Credits given to the Holy Spirit For those of you meeting me for the 1st time, I would like to share how I came to document this Haitian Mission. A journey as my son Timothy and I set out to do a “new thing” in God. But let me back up a little, I really have three sons, Patrick “Tony” who is my oldest, loves animals and children, adults are a different story, Timothy (T-Moe), the middle child and then Jonathan (JB) the one who has to have the last word every single time and also said when he grew up, he wanted to marry his mama. I sent word by carrier pigeon on the Monday prior to leaving and told Tim to meet me at the airport on Friday. He called later that day and said, “Mama, you trying to be funny, you know I can’t go!” And I said okay and continued to pack and pray for my son (**you see Timothy lives in another house, it’s called ‘‘prison’’) As the week progressed, the Holy Spirit said, ‘’Come, with me’’… And if you’ve ever spent any time alone with the Lord, you know you don’t ask questions, just follow His lead…. Well God walked me thru the steps and I knew exactly what I needed to do to carry Tim with me and when I left His presence, I could only praise His Holy Name …. (Thank You Holy Spirit, thank you Lord .) ……Well we’re at the point now where I tell my story and Timothy tells his. It is my intentions to share with you the awesomeness of the God we serve as He leads and guides us according to His Perfect Will …. My mindset was where do we see and recognize the needs of the people? Isn’t that what we came for? Where is the realistic view of a people caught up in such devastation? What will I see that says “third world conditions”? Where do all of these people go at night, does the city ever stop moving, I don’t see how, there are just simply too many displaced people.
