The husband wanted to save his wife, but on the other hand, their children belief that their mom wants a quality of life with dignity. When a nurses engaged such a complex ethical situation, the Ethical Committee resources included multidisciplinary groups that are needed to assist patient and family. Based on statutory law, patients have the right to make a decision to withdraw or withhold any treatment (Blais & Hayes, 2011). In the case study of Marianne, the patient do not have advanced directive on file, therefore, the statutory laws are not against family's decision related to her care. The nurse can only educate and provide information and be the patients' advocate.
Carl Rogers (1961) explain that these core conditions or qualities are necessary for effective counseling in client centered or person centered therapy. However she rang me expecting the same advice as always and I found it extremely difficult to get her to concentrate on her own feelings. What I found was applying this approach seemed to be very difficult to someone you are close with. Week Two For week two, the focus was on self-awareness. We were asked to explore why self-awareness is significant
They had a normal intimate relationship as any other couple, although they kept having a therapist-patient relationship. This case scenario is very harmful for the patient because she has been going to therapy because of a substance abuse problem. Maybe, Megan drinks because she is hurting, unhappy, frightened, or confused and Dr. Patrick could be taking advantage of Megan’s trust and vulnerability. Professional boundaries are integral for a good professional-client relationship. For that reason, it is very important never to
Or did you help the patient?” As a nurse you want to help the patient in every situation. This is an ethical issue nurses have to deal with every day. Since every case is different you are not always able to help the patient in the way they want to be helped. Some patients think that you are their friend and you will do anything they ask. But you aren’t able to; you have to do what is required of your job.
As a new employee other associates like to talk to me to get a sense of who I am. This particular day an associate begins talking to me about our assistant manager. I do not agree with gossiping because it always leads to a misunderstanding; however, I listened. I never contributed to the conversation; however, it got back to the assistant manager that two employees were talking about her in a negative manner. Ethical Decision-Making Paper Abstract Counselors are often faced with situations which require sound ethical decision making ability. One dilemma that counselors face is the limits of confidentiality. Those who go for counseling assume that whatever they tell a counselor will be kept confidential and not shared with anyone outside of the counselor-client relationship. Competent counselors will honor their commitment to the laws and standards governing confidentiality, but there are limitations. When the clients right to confidentiality and the safety of human life clash, confidentiality cannot be maintained.
Footsteps of a Mental Health Counselor: Week Eleven Application “I believe that the route people take in life depends strongly on the relationships they have with others, the obstacles they may go through, and how they find themselves in the mist of it all.” With this belief, I desire to someday focus my counseling on relationship issues and substance abuse counseling. However, I’ve found myself questioning what the life of a counselor looks like on a daily basis. Therefore this paper will unfold what life is like for a counselor, through the eyes of Marie Francis, an LPC and LCAS. Along with the information gathered, I will also incorporate the material learned throughout this course in order to provide a true reflection of what happens day-to-day for a counselor. Spending the day with Marie Francis really gave me a true insight on what the day-to-day life is like for a mental health counselor.

The therapist should hide nothing and the client should be able to see through her. Clients often have a distorted view of themselves, they often act out wishes of others and because they were used to doing it all their lives they find it a challenge to find their real self and are undecided as to how to proceed in life, what they want or how to follow their dreams. Because the therapist accepts the client unconditionally, does not judge him, approve or disapprove, the client is able to explore more of his real self, become more real. If the client is being understood by the therapist then she
