The Roaring 20’s The “roaring twenties” also known as the New Era was a decade of growth after World War I that ended in post-war America. During this time America was full of prosperity, growth, and the standard of living rose greatly as more people began living in urban areas. Throughout this decade many changes occurred including new inventions, technology, cultural developments, and the overall transformation of the American-society. The major characteristics of the twenties were interrelated with the development and influences of a greater society and shared a variety of common causes. The development of new inventions and technologies had a huge impact on America during this era as they became crucial in most people’s lives.
The Harlem renaissance was formed. Mass media movies and sports played important roles in creating the popular culture of the 1920s. New forms of entertainment were introduced. Newspapers and Magazines began mass- circulating and flourished in the 1920s. The radio industry changed forever, not only could people listen to important messages and speeches, people could now tune in for news, entertainment, and advertisements.
During the 1920s era, religion in America experienced a cultural revolution. In the roaring twenties, religion was greatly affected by immigration, the more the people, and the more the religion differences. Not everyone agreed on the same beliefs. The establishment of mass cultural for the first time in the United States had an effect on religion also. By the spread of the radio, tension was caused between rural and urban areas because of new ideas and values everyone had.

According to Thomas Frank, this idea was nothing new and seems to constantly exist where any sort of striving for personal gain is present. Starting in the ‘60s and continuing on in to the current day and age, it seems our society is spinning in a perpetual “rock ‘n’ roll” era (Frank, Pg166). That meaning the advertising fed to us by everything from cola companies to shampoo manufacturers is all fast paced and appeals to the thrill seeking rebel in each of us (Frank, 167). So at the moment, “an eternal fleeing of ‘sameness’[...]” is the ideal we strive for (Frank, Pg 166).
The technological and cultural changes ushered in the modern world. Radio and new forms of entertainment caused great consumer economy. With mass production came mass consumption. In all this decade was one of great change that helped shape the world we live in
The 1950’s were a time of innovation and optimism. After breaking through the Great Depression and emerging victorious from World War II, Americans were confident in their nation and hopeful for the future. We were becoming a nation of consumers, and innovations in communication allowed us to develop trends and a mainstream popular culture. A new demographic, the teenager, was becoming a dominant force in American society, especially in steering the music industry. All of this optimism and forward thinking was apparent in the music industry of the decade.
People went on dates and out dancing in order to have fun. During this time, also, early movies became very popular with the people and thus they started booming. The radio was
