Those saved enjoy some benefits here on earth during their pilgrimage. Salvation is not just an experience for the afterlife; it involves the "first fruits" of blessedness, that is, a proper relationship with God, a gradual transformation into the likeness of Christ, and the filling of the Holy Spirit.. After death, an eternal life awaits Traditionally, Protestants believe in a judgment day at the end of history. On this day all the people that have died throughout human history will be resurrected, and will possess some sort of physical body that will resemble but yet be different from the body possessed during their earthly existence. This is something I found extremely shocking, because although I am a Christian with no denomination, I never really thought about what would happen to your body other than decaying into the ground, and your spirit going to heaven or
There are many biblical references that point towards this interpretation, many of which have been misinterpreted in the past to prove the opposite (that we will be plucked from earth and moved to heaven). Bookless explores what heaven should be understood to be in the chapter, and does a good job of it, pointing towards heaven being a place where God resides and is worshiped by all creation. But in order for this to happen, everything in existence needs to be made new, renewed, that is, a total transformation of the entire
When you pass away no one really knows what happens next, but the Bible tells you what happens if you take the word and believe and be forgiven of your sins that you will go to Heaven, it gives a sense of power of your life and meaning. What is the nature of the universe? I believe the we are more than matter, the way Mark Cosgrave explains” That if you believe the universe is nothing but matter, then you have no choice but to believe that human beings, who are part of the universe, are also mere matter” ( Foundations of Christian thoughts Page 33). This sentence really had me thinking on my own beliefs, I believe personally that we are more than mere matter, I believe in the Lord that created us in his image and that we are more then molecules, this is when Faith comes in to comfort the unknowing, and believe in the word of the Bible. How do you know what you know?
However, John 3:16 clearly states “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. (New International Version Bible, 2014) With that being said, I feel that belief is the only way to heaven, or should I say your gateway into heaven. You have to believe that Jesus died for your sins; you have to believe that Jesus rose from the dead, lastly and most importantly you have
Having fully satisfied God's perfect justice, Jesus conquered death and rose on the third day as he said he would. For the last 2,000 years, every man, woman and child has been confronted with this same question. In Mathew 16:15, Jesus put it this way, 'But who do you say that I am?' One of His disciples, Simon Peter, replied: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus came to live in this world to complete the mission which is to suffer and die for our sins on the cross.
There is no need to be scared to go to heaven because heaven is a better and more peaceful place. I believe in this essay Jonathan Edwards tries to scare you to be afraid of the lord and it actually causes the feeling of the peaceful and loving god you believe in into someone to be scared of. If you believe in Christ you shouldn’t be afraid and later throughout my essay you will find out why. Everyone will be held through the same punishment in the time the lord shall come but it wouldn’t be anything dramatic. If you believe in him and read the bible correctly god
But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you alone, I will come to you. (John14:16-18) A. Judges 14 and 16: Intimate love because Jesus explains that you have to form a relationship with Him before you can get to the Father. You must be one with God in order to receive the Holy Spirit.
“Making disciples” has been reinterpreted these days to mean “make converts.” I do not believe any Christian is called to merely make converts. I especially do not believe that chaplains are called to proselytize within their unit or Area of Operations (AO). In fact, to proselytize is diametrically opposed to the role of chaplain and the job description—it will get a chaplain removed from post, as I think it should. Let me explain the
It explains concepts like evil, death suffering and disasters. Due to the sin committed by Adam, and the participation of the human race in this sin, the world is subject to God’s wrath, because we have separated ourselves from the Creator. The image of God, though still within us is blemished and we are contaminated with sin. The solution lies in the third strategy. Jesus Christ the Son of God.
This confusion has to do with the battle between Satan and God and how he deceived people while on earth. Satan’s sole purpose in life was to deceive everyone and have them come over to his side of evil. Satan wanted men to think that he was the victim from the beginning and that God was the evil one to him and to us all. He further wanted us to think that God was the one who was trying to deceive us from the beginning. However, on the day of the great controversy all was revealed that Satan was the true deceiver and God was indeed to be worshipped.
