HSC 037 Promote and implement health and safety in health and Social care Health and safety basically means assessing your workplace and reducing the risks. As an employee I have to abide by the health and safety at work act 1974. This means I need to attend any mandatory training I have been put on, go to supervisions, adhere to policies and procedures, use correct equipment, do not misuse faulty equipment, report any risks that I have seen and co-operate with my employer. This is all to ensure the safety of myself and others. My employer must follow the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992, their responsibilities are to provide the mandatory training and supervisions, ensure policies and procedures are put in place, plan, organise, control, monitor and review health and safety arrangements, make sure the equipment is available and to maintain risk assessments and to deal with chemicals and other substances safely.

A person’s development is affected by their environment and those relationships are how Bronferbrenner explained his five models of systems. Those models of systems include the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. The five models of systems of the ecological theory are centered upon the relationships amongst the emerging individual and our continuously changing environmental systems. This paper explains how Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory of development has shaped my development and how these levels influenced my decision to pursue my life’s passion.

You can promote health and safety within the social care setting by giving regular training on it, which will constantly refresh it in everyone's mind. Having leaflets on the subject around the place can also help as they are alway there to be picked up and read. Regular staff meeting can provide extremely useful aswell and people can address their concerns and work out ways to deal with it. Also making sure risk assessments are carried out everyday, will encourage people to adapt it into their everyday routine. It is important to identify hazards in the workplace because it is the first step of preventing hazards from progressing to injuries, illness, death or property damage. Question 6 Discuss the importance of the incident reporting process. The purpose of this is to ensure all hazards, incidents and accidents involving staff, an another member, property and activities are reported, investigated, and recorded in accordance of Work and Healthcare Safety Act 2012.
