Firmness was shown and the leadership of a king was brought out of the queen and that earned loads of respect from her people and they figured out that this woman was not one to be taken lightly. She convinced her people that even though she had “the body of a weak and feeble woman,” she still had “the heart and stomach of a king.” Elizabeth showed assertiveness and aggression to any colony that would “dare to invade the borders” of her “realm.” This gave her troops the confidence that they needed and in the outcome
The kind ones; glittered and smiled and the evil ones; prodded. In addition, to developing her in verbs, Penelope Lively also develops her in the reactions of Sandra and Kerry. Rutter is an old lady, in my opinion, by her old fashioned language and personality. Moreover, the literary techniques; metaphors and similes are used. These give you a clear understanding and visual appearance of her which adds to your instincts of this lady.
Both poems show themes of a strong woman, independent woman, and slightly uncertain woman. Strong women do not have to be muscular to be considered strong, but proud and knowledgeable about themselves. For instance, the speaker in “I Shall Paint My Nails Red” states, “Because I am proud of my hands./ Because it will remind me I’m a woman” (Satyamurti, lines 2-3). She is not saying that she is fit or goes to the gym frequently, just that she is proud of the body she has, specifically her hands, and that sometimes we forget that as women, we can be feminine and show that in many different ways. She is also declaring her womanhood and taking pride in the fact that she can enjoy the life she has been given and she is showing this through painting her nails with such a versatile color.
She is a particularly attractive female who uses her assets to her advantage. Linda on the other hand, is described as an unappealing character. She use to be apart of the Hatcheries and Conditioning Centre, where she was known to look slightly like Lenina, but because of her early and unexpected pregnancy with her son John, she is said to be broken and aged. Having a physical appearance like Linda, would make it difficult for one to fit into the society that Lenina lives in. To possess an attribute such as intelligence is an indefinable task, one must put in an enormous amount of effort to accomplish that.
In the play A Doll’s House, the main character Nora Helmer is definitely an admirable person. Although she was subservient and flighty in the beginning, she went through a dramatic change during the play. Nora is admirable for having the courage to make a radical change in her life. It shows how she developed into a wiser, more determined woman who learns to respect herself. Because of logical reasons, Nora Helmer was right to abandon her children and she is admirable.
The voice also seems slightly arrogant which shows her individuality and determination for survival. Maya Angelou once said “I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.” (Angelou 1) This quote is a wonderful representation of the depth of her character. She did not have an easy
This still shows that she was brave, that she is not a selfish girl. She is determined to please others. When Lindo saw her husband for the first time she knew that he would try to make things hard for her. Lindo’s husnband, Tyan-yu,was a great conflict for lindo to overcome. “He acted like a big warlord”(55).
All of these obstacles in front of this women I feel have a meaning, they help not only to better shape Ms.Jacksons personality but it also helps display how determined she is on her mission. The most glaring obstacle to me is the barbed wire. For an old women to do all she has done through this path it illustrates the strong character she is. The author to me is trying to display how strong Woman are in society. An equally glaring conflict is that of Man Vs Society.
I thought that this book was one of the best. It went into great detail about Cleopatra’s rule as well as delved into facts about her kingdom and herself, personally. It pointed out that she wasn’t just a seductress but rather had many accomplishments such as naval commander and linguist. This book highlights that she was a strong woman who ruled very well. I especially liked that the conclusions made about her in the book were drawn from real things, not just people’s opinions or thoughts.
Any evidence of being in over her head would ruin it. The girl second in command to the leader Wiseman calls “The Sidekick.” She is the leader’s best friend and will back her up no matter what the cost because whatever power she has depends on the leader’s confidence in her. The leader becomes more of an authority figure than the sidekick’s parents are. She
