Tkiyah Clark Solomon Ortiz once said education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact of their students. High school teachers help prepare students for life after graduation (OutlookHandbook,3). They teach academic lessons and various skills that students will need to attend college and to enter the job market. Alternate job positions for people with a teaching degree include starting your own tutoring business, facilitating teacher training courses for a college or university, creating curricular materials for an education company or teaching home-bound kids (Watson,1). Beverly Hall is a prime example of becoming successful in the field of education. In her early years she started off a high school teacher in Brooklyn, New York. With her mind set on moving to the top , she became the 15th appointed Superintendent of the Atlanta Public Schools in 1999 (NAGB,1). Her efforts centered on setting an aggressive reform agenda to accelerate student achievement using nationally proven reform models, overseeing faculty upgrades and redesigning business operations (NAGB,1). Under her leadership, standardized test scores have risen, aging facilities have been renovated and a new blueprint for business operations is being implemented. Dr. Beverly Hall is an honorary figure in the field of education. In final analysis, there are many steps and opportunities to becoming a high school teacher. Even though the entry level- education is a bachelor’s degree, you can further your education and obtain many others.
