They believe that you are the center of your religion, you live with vibrancy and luxury, if you want it, take it. They advocate for vengeance instead of turning the other cheek; pride and freedom to find out for yourself who you are and what your individual purpose in life is. Satanists are their own gods. LaVey says, in the Satanic Bible, “Man—using his brain—invented all the Gods, doing so because many of our species cannot accept or control their personal egos, feeling compelled to conjure up one or a multiplicity of characters who can act without hindrance or guilt upon whims and desires. All Gods are thus externalized forms, magnified projections of the true nature of their creators, personifying aspects of the universe or personal temperaments which many of their followers find to be troubling.
Monotheism vs. polytheism Although there is a potentially infinite variation in what people mean by "God," there are some common attributes that are often discussed, especially among those who come from a generally Western tradition of religion and philosophy, because this type of theism relies heavily upon a long framework of intersecting religious and philosophical inquiry, it is commonly referred to as "classical theism," "standard theism," or better still "philosophical theism." There has been much controversy through the ages between people groups and religions that are monotheistic and those that are polytheistic. No one knows when it really began, perhaps with Noah, perhaps in the tower of Babel (western civ Pg.32). How did the world come into existence? How did mankind rise from the prehistoric times to dominate the animal kingdom?
Calvin’s idea of predestination suggests that some people are God’s ‘elect’ and that, after death, these ‘elect’ will join God in heaven. Believers in predestination claim that our actions, whether ‘elect’ or ‘damned’, are predestined or decided by God; meaning that we have very little, if any at all, free will in our decision making or actions. This theory of predestination often leads people to believe in a God ‘who favours some but not all of his creation’, which would be intrinsically linked to miracles in the sense that, regardless of what we do, God has already decided whether he will interact with the world or perform a miracle. Miracles, in this sense, are seen not as unsystematic breaches of natural law but rather as the eternal intention of God for the world. For this reason, people who agree with Calvin in believing in predestination often find it difficult to understand why miracles aren’t common occurrences.
After seeing 3 different ways of how God is portrayed it is clear that there is no real right answer to ‘Who is God?’ However something that stood out in all of them was it was a person but a male. In Bruce Almighty God was portrayed as being a black man with a beard who wore white. He also had magic powers that allowed him to a lot of things most people couldn’t do. When God gave his powers to Bruce, everything turned a bit awry as he was using it for his own free will. However when he lost his girlfriend
Many people have argued as to whether there is only one true religion or not. What is religion? Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power. Some synonyms for religion are faith, belief, creed, and denomination. There are so many religions out there but only one true God.
The Mesopotamians seemed to be a superstitious people needing to believe in a higher power(s) for comfort and peace of mind regarding things they didn’t or couldn’t readily understand. Being an enlightened people, they longed for true knowledge but in its absence embraced the unexplainable by virtue of acceptance of the unseen. As evidence by The Epic of Gilgamesh, the Mesopotamians worshipped their own particular gods, not unlike people today, thousands of years
The incidents in various religions to prove through faith are with Prophet Mohammad, Moses and the 10 commandments, Vitas with him being one with the earth and the Cherokee dance. These were all events that occurred in various religions with God actually present. These theologians come on in an apprehensive way which intimidates the people and ultimately causes them to choose atheism. Social scientists do not believe in God in theory or as a being, like the Theologians. Social scientist use psychology, sociology, anthropology and history to back up their beliefs.
The use of faith as a foundation of getting and recieving knowledge is a contreversial topic that has been debated. Faith in the bible is basically what the belief of God is about, having hope for a supernatural being that nobody can implant within you. Human beings always want to inquire more, but for some people inquiring more knowledge means to actually feel it and sense it in order to believe it. To some extent this is the opposite of faith, because faith however is a belief on something or someone without needing to get that “evidence”. There are more than seven billion people on our planet and each individual has a different belief, but why is it that faith as an individual is such a controversial topic?
There Are No Such Things as Miracles The subject about miracles is strongly opinionated, there are a lot of assumptions, theories and happenings that can lead a person to believing whether miracles do or don’t happen. It all relies on the person’s belief and what they follow. A miracle is usually defined by ‘unexplainable events that break the laws of nature’. There are different types of miracles that most of us have probably heard about, for example, miracles of healing, exorcism, resurrection and nature. The belief in a miracle can come from either experiencing them or religious reasons and explanations.
For example: * Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recognizes four canonized scriptures: the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Many Mormons consider them to be inerrant in their original form: However, the Church does not teach that the Bible is the Will of God. It teaches that the Bible contains the Will of God. "...the Bible makes no claim to absolute inerrancy, and in fact specifically repudiates this notion." Since the religious texts of various religions and denominations differ greatly from one another, only one of them (at most) can be truly inerrant and infallible.
