Other users might include lawyers, employers, law enforcement and researchers. Government licensing agencies make policies that have been determined from the analysis of aggregate data gathered from medical records, in federal and state databases. Institutional users such as hospitals or clinics, depend on the Data Quality Management Model for adequacy and appropriateness of care determined by medical review organizations and the effectiveness of healthcare services reimbursement guidelines enabling the coding and billing departments to receive payments for their services. Research organizations use data to aid in experimental patient care and keep
Situational AnalysisThe context of the steroid pulse therapy document is mainly focused on medical research. Primarily, it is written in relation to this type of therapy for patients who receive this treatment and the ones who administer the therapy. The request for the research proposal is addressed several times throughout the document. For example, in the background of this document, the author acknowledges that “Nursing instructions are important for improving patient knowledge related to their diseases and treatments.” The document was clearly written while the therapy treatment was being conducted on separate occasions. This is evident by a few
Nursing, as described by the American Nurses Association, “is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association, 2013). Perioperative nursing is the care of clients undergoing surgery. The term perioperative nursing is used to describe preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative nurses that work as a team to ensure proper surgical care is given. In the operating room, nursing care is provided by a circulating nurse and/or a scrub nurse. Circulating nurses manage the care of the patient undergoing surgery, they assist anesthesia, monitors for breaks in sterility technique and assists with the needs of the surgeon.
This paper will discuss the need for CDSS in the health sector particularly on clinical tasks. CDSS can provide support to clinicians at various stages in the care process, from preventive care through diagnosis and treatment to monitoring and follow-up. EFFECTIVENESS OF CLINICAL DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS Diagnostic assistance Based on the patient’s data and the system’s knowledge base, CDSS can
A cardiologist is a medical professional who concentrates on the state of the patient's heart and other areas which may be connected to it. The treatment of this organ as well as the study and research or its function, is often applied by the doctors to their patients for better results. Equipment and Paraphernalia Doctors of the heart often use medical equipment and other medical paraphernalia to help them pinpoint the closest possible factor that may be affecting the patient. The electrocardiogram is one of the most commonly used equipment that supports the cardiologist in finding what may be wrong with the patient. The electrocardiogram is just one instrument among many that can help distinguish the issues of a certain patient concerning his cardiologic health.
The EHR is a computerized electronic record of patient health information generated by one or more encounters in any care delivery setting. Included in this information are patient demographics, progress notes, problems, medications, vital signs, past medical history, immunizations, laboratory data and radiology reports. The EHR automates the clinician's workflow and has the ability to generate a complete record of a patient encounter - as well as supporting other care-related activities directly or indirectly, including evidence-based decision support, quality management, and outcome reporting. In this paper I will discuss the many benefits and drawbacks of EHR’s, the types of software used and their functions as well as my thoughts on the future of Electronic Health Records. Many healthcare organizations have switched over to electronic health records since President George W. Bush called for health records to be stored electronically by 2014, and President Obama’s administration plans to continue pushing for that deadline.
A key attribute of medical model is the development of companion diagnostics, which measure levels of proteins, genes or specific mutations are used to provide a specific therapy for an individual's condition by stratifying disease status, selecting the proper medication and tailoring dosages to that patient's specific needs. Additionally, such methods can be used to assess a patient's risk factor for a number of conditions and tailor individual preventative treatments. Stratified medicine has been used for the current approach. Examples of successful personalized treatments exist in the field of oncology.
The Radiography Learning Process Radiology is the branch of health sciences that deal with X-rays and other forms of radiation. These include Computer-Assisted Tomography, also known as CT or CAT scan, cardiac imaging, Interventional Neuroradiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, and ultrasound. Radiography is used to diagnose and treat disease in nearly every musculoskeletal and organ system. The Radiology program is a competitive, two year program that involves general education and pre-requisite courses. Some of the courses include Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Math for Allied Health, and Lifespan Human development.
The patient’s record and lab studies- The patient’s medical history 2. How are medical diagnosis and nursing diagnosis similar? Nursing diagnoses are presents along with medical diagnoses to illustrate common abnormalities. How are they different? The nursing diagnosis is care-focused.
The nursing process is much like the scientific method, but they also have some distinct differences. The nursing process consists of five different steps. Step one being the assessment of the patients well being, anything from physically, psychologically as well as even emotionally. Step two would include a nursing diagnosis, which would require the nurse to use her clinical knowledge to make the basis to a patients’ health care plan. Step three would be planning and the outcomes of the patient’s diagnosis, the nurse must do some rapid changes in the patients care to make sure they get treated.
