The best and worst part of Death Certificate is the same thing: As an artist, you can generally only make that kind of album once. A lot of times, there's one album that sticks out in an artists' catalogue where can listen to it and feel that it's their complete view of the world and life, and how they feel about it. Like - it's that album where niccas say "Yo, _______ really came hard on that, I didn't expect him to say that..." It's usually not the first one, because the first one is where they wanna make their impact - establish their sound, show their skills, and whatnot. Where it achieves the second part of the question is how it seemed to be prophetic. I mean damn - this dropped right before the Riots popped off. It was right on time. That type of thing may never happen again. To put it in perspective, that would be if The Revolution started right after Let's Get Free came out. Lol Ain't nothin' wrong wit' a St. Ides every now and then. You actin' like he was schillin' for Newports... Chuck D and Cube fought for black people's rights. Ross fights for his rights at the expense of his own people. Most Albums released in the early 90s would never even be made, much less released by major labels these days. Even the underground rapper of today pales in comparison to them. Yet another reason why that era was the best in hip-hop, regardless of the region. This is from the era where hip hop was feared by the mainstream... Now we have white pop singers (Timberlake) dissin "hip hop elite" on national television with no fear of retribution... I was watching the LA Riots special the other day and just thinking about who crushed our rebellious spirit and made us assimilate without a fight? I listen to Death Certificate atleast once a month even 20 years
