The Effects of Communication The use of cellular phones has spread like wild fire in the last ten years. It has become a part of everyday life for many Americans, and a good number of people depend on them to accomplish daily operations. Unfortunately, many of these daily operations occur while the individual is driving. Cell phones and other forms of wireless communication also create distractions and increase a driver’s risk on the road. The use of cell phones poses a danger in two ways.
Especially around where we live, people have high self-esteem and they think they know everything because they got money and drive nice cars, which they never worked for it so they wouldn’t understand the value of the car. Most traffic accidents are caused by dangerous driving habits attained and carried out by drivers such as speed, using cellphone. Thousands of people are killed in car accidents every year. The main reason that most people are killed in car accidents each year is because most people have very bad driving habits, and speeding is one of the most dangerous drivers habit, it causes many accidents that take a love one’s life and destroy families’ every day. In the United States of America approximately 32,000 people die each year from speeding in an automobile.
With the growing anti-wait lifestyle of human nature many are trying to make every spare minute of their life productive. While most do so by doing what needs to be done at the home, office, etc. some choose a more dangerous way to try to conserve precious time. While this may seem very drastic to point out about such a simple task many are incapable of effectively driving while using their cellular phone. Research found that 60% of cellular phone usage is done while driving.
My teenagers say yes. Difficult communication with teens is made more difficult by sleep deprivation due to late nights on their phones. Adults are also guilty of mindlessly plugging in to their phones and losing hours at a time. Smartphones are a distraction that some people are unable to resist, even when driving a car. Texting and cell phone usage have been linked to motor vehicle accidents that often end in death.
This habit has increased for the past 10 years due to the enlargement of technology. Due to this problem people get killed or severally hurt, you don’t know it but you’re hurting yourself and others. Another bad thing about texting or talking on the phone while driving is that you can get pulled over and get a ticket. Driving while texting or talking can be a bad example for others or your kids because by you doing they probably think that they can to so it can be dangerous. There are also many under age drivers on the road that makes driving on the road more dangerous for them and anyone driving that day.
Even those Bluetooth headsets raise the potential risk of an accident. Even though a person’s hands may be free of the cellular device, he or she is still being distracted by the conversation. Cell phone usage while driving causes 2,500 deaths and 330,000 injuries in the United States every year. People who drive while talking on a cell phone raise the risk of an accident or death. Recent studies show that a person driving while talking on a cell phone has less awareness of the road than a person who is driving drunk.
The general public continues to text throughout the day, regardless of the individuals actions at that time. Text messaging while driving has become a typical cause for car accidents among drivers today. According to studies orchestrated by the National Safety Council (NSC) and published on the NSC website at www.nsc.org, “1.4 million crashes each year involve drivers using cell phones and a minimum of 200,000 additional crashes each year involve drivers who are texting” (www.nsc.org). What these assessments show is how much more distracted drivers are by texting while driving, resulting in avoidable car accidents. This is just one way text messaging is negatively impacting society.
Many critiques believe that cellphones are becoming increasingly dangerous, hundreds of car crashes occur daily from cellphone usage, and many believe that cellphones can be linked to cancer and other illnesses. Hundreds of car crashes occur every day because of cellphone usage. The author Louis Francescutti in the article titled, “CAEP Position Statement on Cellphone Use While Driving” believes that cellphones are a safety hazard and a major distraction while driving. Francescutti notes that consequences of car crashes are devastating to families and all who witness the outcome; she believes car crashes caused by cellphone usage are completely preventable and causes needless injuries. Since cellphone came out in the 80’s the number of people using cellphones has “increased by approximately 40% …85% of cellphone users admitted to using their phone while driving”(Francescutti 366).She mentions that cellphones and other electronic devices are suggested to be responsible for “25% to 30%” of all crashes and says that research in
Nowadays, technology takes over people, especially teenagers. No matter where I go, I always see most of teenagers concentrate on their smartphones and so do I. Technology seems to be an important part of my life. For example, if I leave home and forget my iPhone, I will feel very anxious like I forget my soul. Furthermore, these things make me have more laziness.
Does banning cell phone use while driving decrease the accident rate? Nowadays almost everyone has a cell phone. It is very common to see drivers talking on the phone while they are commuting to work, school or just everyday errands. Studies have shown that using a cellphone while driving can be just as dangerous driving while impaired . Many accidents occur due to cell phone use because the majority of people are not able to do it safely (2009).
