Human Chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that women use to cause ovulation and treat infertility. Men use this hormone to increase their sperm count. Young boys can also use this hormone if their testicles have not dropped into the scrotum normally. This infertility, low sperm count, and testicles not dropping properly can be caused by a pituitary gland disorder. hCG effects the hormone LH (Luteinizing hormone) and the target tissue is the ovaries in women and testis in men. Symptoms of hCG include morning sickness, Hyperthyroidism, and Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome. Raised hGC levels can cause multiple fetuses, Hydatidiform Mole, and Choriocarcinoma. You can receive hCG injections or orally to correct you hCG level. Cushing’s disease is a condition where the pituitary gland releases too much adrenocorticotropic (ACTH). Those who have Cushing’s disease have too much ACTH. ACTH stimulates the production and release of cortisol, Too much ACTH means too much cortisol. Cushing’s disease is caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland. Symptoms of Cushing’s disease include upper body obesity, round, red full face, acne, purple marks called striae, thin skin with easy bruising, backache, bone pain, bone thinning, weak muscles, hair growth on women, irregular menstrual cycle,…show more content…
The hormone that is not being produced is called ACTH, cortisol or aldosterone. Addison’s disease happens when the anterior pituitary gland produces excessive but in effective amounts of ACTH to the adrenal cortex. This hinders its ability to produce and release hormones. Symptoms include bronzing of skin, dehydration, fatigue, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Addison’s disease is an autoimmune disease. The cause is unknown. The target tissue is the body’s cells. Treatment options for Addison’s disease would be taking hormones called corticosteroids orally every
